Brandon Blackstock<\/strong><\/a> quietly hung out with his former stepmother, Reba McEntire<\/strong><\/a>, less than five months before his death.<\/p>\n

Brandon and his half-brother, Shelby Blackstock<\/strong>, reunited with McEntire, 70, and her boyfriend, Rex Linn<\/strong>, at RodeoHouston in March.<\/p>\n

\u201cFamily time, the @rodeohouston and corn dogs,\u201d Shelby, 35, wrote via Instagram<\/a> on March 5. \u201cWe had a blast in Houston watching @rissablackstock experience her first rodeo [and] being able to spend cherished time with family! Mom\u2019s concert was the icing on the cake!\u201d<\/p>\n

In a carousel of photos, Shelby and wife Marissa Blackstock<\/strong> posed with Brandon and other members of their blended family inside the arena, including three of Brandon\u2019s children<\/a>. (He shared Savannah and Seth with Melissa Ashworth<\/strong>, as well as River Rose and Remington with Kelly Clarkson<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBrandon Blackstock entered the spotlight in 2012 when he started dating Kelly Clarkson \u2014 but the talent manager was actually no stranger to fame. The Texas native was born in 1976 to Narvel Blackstock and Elisa Gayle Ritter. After Narvel split from Ritter in 1988, Reba McEntire became Brandon\u2019s stepmom. The country singer was married [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Brandon was dressed casually in a denim jacket with a black cowboy hat and stood in front of River, 10, and Remington, 8. They posed beside half-sister Savannah, 23, who was joined by husband Quentin Lee<\/strong> and their son. (Savannah announced in July that she is expecting their second baby<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Brandon had three siblings. He, Chassidy and Shawna are the kids of father Narvel Blackstock<\/strong> and first wife Elisa Gayle Ritter<\/strong>. Narvel, 68, later welcomed son Shelby with McEntire in 1990. Narvel and McEntire eventually divorced in 2015<\/a> before the Happy\u2019s Place <\/i>star moved on with Linn, 68.<\/p>\n

Five months after the family rodeo outing, Brandon died at the age of 48<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,\u201d a family spokesperson told Us Weekly<\/i> in a Thursday, August 7, statement. \u201cBrandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement concluded, \u201cWe thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family\u2019s privacy during this very difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
