Chappell Roan<\/a> has earned her second U.K. No. 1 hit with \u201cThe Subway,\u201d which debuted atop the Official Singles Chart<\/a> on Friday (Aug. 8).<\/p>\n First performed live back in June 2024, the song was officially released Aug. 1 alongside a music video that Billboard<\/em> described<\/a> as \u201cgrimy, gay and gorgeous.\u201d The song gives Roan her second chart-topper in the U.K. after \u201cPink Pony Club\u201d first achieved the feat in March.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Earlier this week at \u00d8ya Festival <\/a>in Oslo, Norway, Roan performed the song live for the first time post-release, also admitting that returning to the stage had spooked her. \u201cI\u2019m really nervous,\u201d she said. \u201cI just haven\u2019t done a show for a sec so I\u2019m kinda nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking in an interview<\/a> with Vogue<\/em>, Roan also indicated that \u201cThe Subway\u201d wasn\u2019t the start of a new LP rollout, and that she could be \u201cfive years\u201d away from a sophomore record. \u201cThe second project doesn\u2019t exist yet,\u201d she added. \u201cThere is no album. The song from the Netflix animated musical was the first K-pop track <\/a>to hit the No. 1 spot in 13 years, following \u201cGangnam Style\u201d by PSY in 2012.<\/p>\n Two additional songs from the KPop Demon Hunters<\/em> soundtrack have reached the top 10 for the first time. Saja Boys\u2019 \u201cSoda Pop\u201d (6) and \u201cYour Idol,\u201d (No. 8) \u2014 performed by vocalists Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo and SamUIL Lee \u2014 continue to see rapid growth.<\/p>\n Justin Bieber\u2019s \u201cDaisies\u201d retains a spot in the top five, closing the week at No. 3; the song hit the top spot <\/a>in July for a weeklong reign. MK and Chrystal\u2019s \u201cDior,\u201d which ruled for two weeks<\/a> at the summit earlier this summer, closes at No. 3.<\/p>\n Disco Lines and Tinashe\u2019s \u201cNo Broke Boys\u201d climbs three spots to break into the upper echelons of the charts for the first time (No. 5).
