So it\u2019s good to be back and on my two feet!\u201d<\/p>\n The singer returned to her hometown fest this year as a performer<\/span>, where she delivered a fiery set of songs from 2024\u2019s Bird\u2019s Eye<\/a><\/em> (including her hit, \u201cLove Me Not.\u201d) \u201cIt was everything I dreamt of,\u201d she said. \u201cI remember coming here as a kid, thinking of when it was gonna be my turn. Lenae noted that she was still living in Chicago when she first heard the record. \u201cI put it on my TV and I literally laid down on the couch with my eyes closed and listened to the whole thing,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s usually how I listen to Kendrick\u2019s albums. In my living room, with my eyes closed.\u201d<\/p>\n After landing on Anycia\u2019s \u201cBad Weather\u201d and Arima Ederra\u2019s \u201cPortals,\u201d she stopped on Magdalena Bay\u2019s \u201cAngel on a Satellite,\u201d off the avant-pop duo\u2019s 2024 LP Imaginal Disk<\/a><\/em>. She first saw them live in Iceland, and first heard the album while on a solo walk in Los Angeles. \u201cI just knew that was the scenery for it,\u201d she said of the San Fernando Valley trail. \u201cI remember walking through being like, \u2018I feel like I\u2019m on shrooms, but I\u2019m not.’\u201d<\/p>\n Lenae, who will open for Rene\u00e9 Rapp<\/a> and Sabrina Carpenter<\/a> this fall, also spoke about returning to her alma mater, Chicago High School for the Arts. \u201cI thought this would be the perfect time,\u201d she said. \u201cWalking through the halls, looking through the classrooms, remembering where I was, and it doesn\u2019t feel that long ago. But you blink, and so many things have changed.
