It\u2019s called\u00a0<em>Trying Not to Have a Thought<\/em>, and its first single, \u201cHawk,\u201d hints that time hasn\u2019t dulled the band\u2019s sharpness, energy, or passion. There\u2019s some twinkle, a couple of mathy riffs, and shouty vocals. If this is what a Die Spitz anthem sounds like, we\u2019re hooked. \u2014\u00a0<em>Paolo Ragusa<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sam Gellaitry \u2014 \u201cSTART UP A RUMOUR\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"sam gellaitry - START UP A RUMOUR (Official Visualizer)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5dJGfDYz3pg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Sam Gellaitry\u2019s renaissance continues with \u201cSTART A RUMOUR,\u201d a tightly-syncopated disco track perfectly suited for fans of his viral 2021 hit, \u201cAssumptions.\u201d The light timbre of Gellaitry\u2019s voice, combined with an appropriate touch of reverb, lends itself perfectly to the song\u2019s shimmering synths and surprisingly quick groove. Though he\u2019s been consistently killing it on the production front for nearly a decade now, \u201cSTART A RUMOUR\u201d is another display of Gellaitry\u2019s confidence as a vocalist and disco connoisseur; if he wanted, a full-on pop star pivot would be a treat to watch. \u2014\u00a0<em>P. It\u2019s catchy, relatively up-tempo, and holds off on its cathartic explosion of emotion until the very end. Like I said, perfect for Emo Summer \u201925. I mean, there\u2019s even a dude swimming on the album art. \u2014 <em>J. After an inviting intro with skittering vocal samples and a hopeful lead melody, a wall of fuzz tones envelopes the listener. Fans of <em>Loveless<\/em> and freaks who find musicality in the hums of vacuums or air ducts (yours truly) are bound to find a whole lot to love. \u2014 <em>J. It\u2019s more than slightly chaotic and irreverent (\u201cMahatma Ghandi and Mother Theresa\/ Are gettin\u2019 kinda freaky on a beach in Ibiza\u201d is quite the couplet), but Jones\u2019 booming synth bass and percussive, dance-punk production quickly moves \u201cMother Teresa\u201d into banger territory. By the time they hit \u201cLost my shit in the shower\/ No water, no power\u201d at the start of the second verse, Jones has made it easy to rope us in for the long haul. \u2014\u00a0<em>P. Ragusa<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wolf Alice \u2014 \u201cWhite Horses\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Wolf Alice - White Horses (Official Lyric Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zKVOPB7e5N8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>With every release from their upcoming album\u00a0<em>The Clearing<\/em>, Wolf Alice have been building out a fascinating new world for them to inhabit. \u201cWhite Horses\u201d is the latest offering, and drummer Joel Amey takes the majority of the vocals this time; it\u2019s a treat to hear him duet once more with Ellie Rowsell, so much so that it makes you wonder why he wasn\u2019t featured more prominently on the mic before the band\u2019s 2021 album,\u00a0<em>Blue Weekend<\/em>. Unlike the prior two singles, though, \u201cWhite Horses\u201d feels more dynamically aligned with the Wolf Alice of yore, with swelling momentum and a touch of psychedelia. Still, right now, they sound like a band born anew, and it\u2019s thrilling. \u2014\u00a0<em>P. Ragusa<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wombo \u2014 \u201cS.T. Tilted\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Wombo - S.T. Tilted.\u201d Built on a stunted guitar riff and dissonant chords, the tune is surprisingly pleasant on the ears, as Wombo successfully attempt to toe the line between outsider post-punk and danceable indie rock. \u2014 <em>J.
