Chace Crawford<\/strong> recently opened up about a challenging time in his career after Gossip Girl<\/em> ended \u2014 long before he was cast in The Boys<\/em>.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, June 12, the actor, 39, appeared as a guest on the Good Guys<\/em><\/a> podcast, hosted by Josh Peck<\/strong> and Ben Soffer<\/strong>, where he admitted it was hard to break free from being typecast after playing Upper East Side heartthrob Nate Archibald.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think people think, first of all, they think that actors make a ton more money and have way more agency than we actually do, depending on sort of where you are,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt like I was in the wilderness for years after Gossip Girl<\/em>. As big of a show as it was, coming off as a still young guy, it\u2019s like, \u2018That\u2019s not cool anymore,\u2019 and I\u2019m in this box. I\u2019m in this jail of the CW pretty boy who has no range,\u201d he recalled. \u201cI felt that, and I was probably harder on myself than I needed to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hit teen drama ran for six seasons from 2007 to 2012. Crawford had a few guest roles on TV shows afterward and starred in one season of the 2015 soap opera Blood & Oil<\/em>, before it was canceled. However, things changed in 2018 when he landed the role of Kevin Moskowitz, aka The Deep, in Prime Video\u2019s The Boys<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so happy to have another job that I was excited about that the character was so different from anything I had done before, you know,\u201d Crawford admitted.<\/p>\n

Crawford said he loved getting into the dark comedy space and was grateful for the show\u2019s success, especially after his career lull.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a lot of fun. That was the first time I really really enjoyed the fan feedback from people in the streets,\u201d he confessed. \u201cIt was not lost on me how difficult after kind of those four years of some false starts on some TV shows of like, oh, this could be difficult to find another thing, and I was really, really appreciative when this happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Crawford went on to share that it was nice to experience this \u201cjourney\u201d as an adult.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very appreciative of [The Boys<\/em>] after being on something like Gossip Girl<\/em>, where not that I took it for granted \u2014 it was just so fresh, and I was so young that you kind of inevitably, by the end of it, had taken some things for granted.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
