One <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/justinboldaji\/status\/1952411103725854789\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:user in particular;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">user in particular<\/a> threw out Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros\u2019 2009 hit \u201cHome\u201d with a clip of their Tiny Desk performance. The band\u2019s singer Alex Ebert has come to the defense of The Magnetic Zeros\u2019 biggest hit in an <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DNEGa9TPe_K\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=083a58cf-3961-415f-8325-582dd96e6a3a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Instagram video;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Instagram video<\/a>. He went on to explain what he feels are the nuts and bolts of a good song.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIf the bones are good, if the bones let the song survive context, if you pull it out of acoustic guitar, you put a piano there and it works, it\u2019s a good song,\u201d said Ebert. \u201cYou pull it out of the piano, you put it on the harp, it\u2019s still working, you take out of the harp, you sing it a capella, it\u2019s still working, good song.\u201d Ebert went on to claim \u201cHome\u201d pioneered the \u201cstomp, clap,\u201d folk era of the early 2010s and that acts such as <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/entertainment\/2021\/12\/the-lumineers-return-to-their-nj-high-school-in-new-music-video.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Lumineers;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">The Lumineers<\/a> and Monsters of Men sought out to duplicate their sounds. He even went as far as claiming he almost sued Monsters of Men for getting a sound \u201cclose to \u2018Home.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ebert goes on to recall the time his 90-year-old father asked him to play the song and give an impromptu performance in a restaurant. While it\u2019s still to be determined if he\u2019ll release a version of the recording, the singer has an affinity for the lo-fi style of the original. However, he may also have realized that he had created a monster with the trend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cAnd by the way, \u2018Home\u2019 isn\u2019t a good recording, it\u2019s just a good song, said Ebert. \u201cBut it not being a good recording is what I love about \u201cHome.\u201d It\u2019s like a moment. We recorded it on tape; we didn\u2019t even know how to record on tape. It sounds like it\u2019s made in some muffled garage. I wanted to spread the porous happenstance incidentalism of Edward Sharpe. Instead, what I spread was stomp claps taken and recorded better, and that\u2019s depressing.
