The other day I walked past a caf\u00e9 in Manhattan that had cream interiors and tastefully curated shelves and claimed to be \u201crooted in Ayurvedic principles\u201d and I thought: \u201cShe\u2019s done it again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gwyneth Paltrow always seems to be 10 steps ahead of everyone else.<\/p>\n
She started a lifestyle newsletter, called <\/span>Goop, in 2008\u2014two years before Instagram arrived to launch a million one-woman lifestyle brands, and nearly 10 years before Substack was founded. <\/span>Before MAHA<\/a>, and all the talk of \u201c<\/span>forever chemicals<\/a>,\u201d there was Gwyneth, <\/span>in 2012<\/a>, going on about \u201ctoxins\u201d and how we might cleanse ourselves of them. She <\/span>stopped eating gluten<\/a> before the term \u201cgluten-free\u201d <\/span>hit mainstream menus<\/a>. And she was lambasted in the press for being out of touch long before the term \u201cnepo baby\u201d cannonballed into the culture.<\/span><\/p>\n She even found her way into the recent furor surrounding the <\/span>Coldplay couple<\/a> who were caught canoodling on a jumbotron at a concert outside Boston. Astronomer, the company that the reportedly cheating CEO and his suspected mistress worked at, hired Paltrow on a \u201cvery temporary basis\u201d as its spokesperson. She <\/span>appeared in a video <\/a>to shout out its software products and an event it was having, winking at the scandal, while leapfrogging off the interest the otherwise little-known software company was getting. It was, simply, a genius move.<\/span><\/p>\n
