released photos from the Los Angeles set of the reboot show Gellar, 48, dressed up in a radiant red mini dress with long sleeves, pink stilettos and a Yves\u00a0Saint Laurent Sac de Jour handbag.<\/p>\n<p>Although little is known about the upcoming reboot, Gellar\u2019s Buffy appears to be walking to or from work in the fictional town of Sunnydale.<\/p>\n<aside 1997 to 2003.<\/p>\n<p>More than 20 years later, and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/01\/26\/entertainment\/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-could-get-reboot-dolly-parton\/\">following rumors of a potential revival,<\/a> Hulu <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-revival-hulu-sarah-michelle-gellar-pilot-1236291559\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced in February<\/a> that it had ordered a pilot for a new, untitled \u201cBuffy\u201d project with Gellar set to reprise the vampire-hunting character.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cCruel Intentions\u201d star confirmed the news and her return further with a surprising <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DFvUywyvMy2\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=65f63382-c0a0-4e28-a708-a50224cf884b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram post<\/a> on Feb. 6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo\u2026 you might have heard some news this week, but I realize you haven\u2019t heard from me,\u201d she began.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image told me that she wanted me to sit down with\u00a0Chlo\u00e9 Zhao\u00a0to hear her take on a potential \u2018Buffy\u2019 revival.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After agreeing to a \u201ctwenty-minute coffee\u201d with the Oscar-winning director, who worked as an executive producer on the original series, Gellar said that she and Zhao ended up enjoying a \u201cfour-hour adventure\u201d as they discussed \u201chow much this show means to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I didn\u2019t agree to anything at that meeting, I did shock myself by agreeing to continue the conversation,\u201d she explained. \u201cThis has been a long process, and it\u2019s not over yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI promise you, we will only make this show if we know we can do it right,\u201d Gellar added. \u201cAnd I will tell Instagram<\/a> in May to introduce Ryan Kiera Armstrong, the new project\u2019s lead and Buffy\u2019s right-hand vampire slayer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know this process has been hard, and there\u2019s been so many parts,\u201d Gellar said. \u201cThere was just sort of one part of it that I just wanted to ask you, and I wanted to make sure that you were okay with: How do you feel about helping me save the world?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood,\u201d Armstrong, 15, responded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want to be my chosen one?\u201d Gellar continued as Armstrong broke down in tears. \u201cWill you stand by my with\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/story\/sarah-michelle-gellar-buffy-reboot-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vanity Fair<\/a> published in June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cWe will try to find a balance between new and old characters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy dream is to bring back everyone who has died,\u201d Gellar added, \u201cbut space will have to be made for new stories as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Besides Gellar, who has been married to Freddie Prinze Jr., 49, since 2002, the original, Joss Whedon-created \u201cBuffy\u201d series starred Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Anthony
