The angel Castiel might have rusty people skills, a stoic demeanor, and deadpan sarcasm, but Misha Collins<\/a>, the human actor behind Supernatural<\/a><\/i>\u2018s forever third wheel, is charming and full of stories. It\u2019s a natural fit, then, that Collins has created a one-man show, It Seemed Like A GOOD IDEA at the Time<\/i>, which he tours around the country separate from the SPN<\/i> conventions he does with costars Jensen Ackles<\/a> and Jared Padalecki<\/a>.<\/p>\n Stops this year for A GOOD IDEA<\/i> include Oklahoma City, Austin, Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, and Nashville. The 90-minute, alcohol-friendly evening is described as having \u201ctopics more suited to a therapist\u2019s sofa than a public stage.\u201d A warning: There might be more than a few d\u2013k jokes.<\/p>\n \u201cI love telling these very personal stories that bring the audience into some real difficult, emotional terrain, while also having them belly laugh \u2014 and they laugh a lot, if I do say so myself,\u201d admits Collins, who shares tales of his financially fraught childhood, including how his mother taught him to steal peaches when he was 4 and how they hopped freight trains and lived as nomads in tents. \u201cThis added up to a childhood ripe for storytelling,\u201d Collins notes.<\/p>\n Misha Collins<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n Maarten de Boer<\/p>\n His laugh-out-loud material ranges from the deeply intimate to the riotously inappropriate. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to see that the hard parts can be funny, and the funny parts can be hard,\u201d he continues. \u201cI also love exposing myself to a live audience \u2014 both literally and figuratively \u2014 and not just a camera crew.\u201d<\/p>\n Collins, who introduced the world of angels to Supernatural<\/i> viewers during the show\u2019s fourth season back in 2008, remained a fan favorite on the series until the end. Now, after his own challenging upbringing, he\u2019s a proud family man with a wife and two kids \u2014 and his life is much more settled. Still, Collins says A<\/i> GOOD IDEA<\/i> was \u201clong percolating.\u201d<\/p>\n And though this show is 100 percent Collins, he credits Padalecki with the title. \u201cOne day on set, after telling yet another story about how I had barely escaped with my life, smuggling myself into Tibet in the back of a vegetable truck, Jared had a flash of insight,\u201d Collins recalls. \u201cHe said, \u2018I\u2019ve got it \u2014 the title of your memoir.
