Late Show <\/em>host Stephen Colbert was offered a new role after his talk show was canceled.<\/p>\n During an appearance on Colbert’s show earlier this week, pal Josh Brolin offered to hire Colbert, 61, to be his personal assistant.<\/p>\n \u201cYou know what, Josh Brolin, I bet that\u2019s a real easy job,\u201d Colbert laughed. \u201cNo calls in the middle of the night complaining about why the steam room isn\u2019t working from Josh Brolin.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m in, man,\u201d he added before questioning if the gig came with “benefits.”<\/p>\n “Yes, of course,” Brolin said. “I thought you meant sexual and I was like, ‘No way, man. I’m not doing that.'”<\/p>\n In addition to personal assistant duties, Colbert also landed a guest starring role in CBS’s Elsbeth. He is set to play the host of the fictional show Way Late with Scotty Bristol <\/em>in an upcoming episode.<\/p>\n Last month, Colbert announced that CBS had canceled his long-running late night talk show. The iconic series, which first premiered with host David Letterman, will come to an end in May 2026.<\/p>\n \u201cIt’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of The Late Show<\/em> on CBS,” Colbert told viewers. “I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away. And I do want to say … that the folks at CBS have been great partners. I’m so grateful to the Tiffany Network for giving me this chair and this beautiful theater to call home. And of course I’m grateful to you, the audience, who have joined us every night.”<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cI’ve had the pleasure and the responsibility of sharing what we do every day with you in front of this camera for the last 10 years. It is a fantastic job. I wish somebody else was getting it. It’s a job that I’m looking forward to doing with this usual gang of idiots for another 10 months.”<\/p>\n
