Among the reasons fans love the character is for how she\u2019s an outsider who embraces herself despite living in a world where her behavior is often not accepted. It\u2019s no wonder she\u2019s thought of as a queer icon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">And when Season 1 of <em>Wednesday<\/em> came out, LGBTQ+ fans started getting behind the idea of Wednesday Addams and her roommate Enid Sinclair (played by Emma Myers) perhaps starting a friendship that could blossom into romance. However, the ship known as \u201cWenclair\u201d has just been shot down by its show creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. As Gough told <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/decider.com\/2025\/08\/08\/wednesday-creators-on-wednesday-enid-queer-romance\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Decider;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><u>Decider<\/u><\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"mb-4 border-l-2 pl-5 italic text-tertiary\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It\u2019s a show about female friendship and people can read into whatever they want, which is great. I mean, that\u2019s the beauty of television, is people can take ownership, but they\u2019re very much friends. It\u2019s really a show exploring female friendship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In the first season of <em>Wednesday<\/em>, its titular character had a couple of male love interests in Percy Hynes White\u2019s Xavier and Hunter Doohan\u2019s Tyler, but they weren\u2019t really entertained much by Jenna Ortega\u2019s character. The two young women become roommates in the first season, and they have a sweet storyline about becoming friends despite being opposites. As Millar also added:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"mb-4 border-l-2 pl-5 italic text-tertiary\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">And the idea of sisterhood and what that means. It\u2019s amazing that they\u2019ve been embraced in that way. I think it\u2019s something that\u2019s very special, unique about that. You have a show that is about, at its core, these two teenage girls who need each other and have found that connection.
