Former MLB player David Justice said he was unsure if he wanted to start a family with ex-wife Halle Berry because she didn\u2019t cook or clean.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking at my mom and I\u2019m a Midwest guy, so in my mind, I\u2019m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, and then I\u2019m thinking, OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with, build a family with,\u201d Justice said on Thursday\u2019s episode of the podcast \u201cAll The Smoke.\u201d<\/a> \u201cAnd at that time as a young guy, if you don\u2019t cook, you don\u2019t clean, don\u2019t really seem motherly, and then we start having issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Justice, 59, and Berry, 58, were married from 1993 to 1996. Justice said the couple didn\u2019t receive a lot of negative attention until he \u201cdecided to leave her\u201d in 1996. He said Berry asked him to marry her after knowing him for five months.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI said OK,\u201d Justice said, \u201cbecause I couldn\u2019t say no. I said OK, but I don\u2019t know if my heart was really into it, but I didn\u2019t want to make her feel bad and say no. I was just in the moment. It caught me off guard.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He said they probably could have made the marriage work if they knew about therapy. He said his knowledge of relationships wasn\u2019t vast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Berry\u2019s reps did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Berry has long said one of her former boyfriends was physically abusive and hit her in the head so hard that she lost hearing. On the podcast episode, Justice reiterated it was not him and expressed disappointment that Berry never named the abuser, leaving people to speculate that it was him. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cShe let the world think that it was me,\u201d Justice said. \u201cAnd that I never appreciated with her. I thought she was dead wrong for that.
