Emmerdale<\/a> star Isabel Hodgins has announced a break from the soap after 19 years to focus on her pregnancy.<\/p>\n The actor, 31, made her debut as Victoria Sugden on the ITV<\/a> soap as a child, and is the longest-serving female character currently on the series<\/a>.<\/p>\n Hodgins, who is having her first baby with husband Adam Whitehead, said she \u201cwill miss\u201d the soap.<\/p>\n \u201cI love the people there, but I\u2019ve worked there for 19 years, so I feel like I\u2019ve done what I\u2019ve wanted to do and been selfish with my career,\u201d she told The Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cNow it\u2019s time to devote my life to being a mum \u2013 that feels right to me,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut there\u2019s still FaceTime, so they won\u2019t forget me.\u201d<\/p>\n Hodgins announced her pregnancy on Sunday (10 August), writing: \u201cFirst comes love, Then comes marriage, Then comes\u2026 Baby Whitehead.\u201d<\/p>\n The actor, who is four months pregnant, added: \u201cIt\u2019s something that we wanted to happen, but now it actually has, it\u2019s still sinking in!\u201d<\/p>\n Her co-stars shared their messages of congratulations, with Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, commenting: \u201cCongratulations. Absolutely wonderful news. Made up for you both.\u201d<\/p>\n Hodgins married Whitehead in April 2025 at a Manchester ceremony attended by her fellow Emmerdale stars including Laura Norton Jeff Hordley and Danny Miller.<\/p>\n The actor was cast in Emmerdale in 2006 when she was 12, replacing Hannah Midgley in the role of Victoria.<\/p>\n She was nominated for Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor at the British Soap Awards in 2009, but lost to EastEnders star Maisie Smith.<\/p>\n The Sugdens are one of Emmerdale\u2019s most famous families, appearing on the soap from its very first episode in 1972.<\/p>\n \u2019Emmerdale\u2019 star Isabel Hodgins joined soap in 2006 (ITV)<\/p>\n Last week, it was revealed that a game show hosted by Hodgins\u2019 former Emmerdale co-star Adam Thomas had been cancelled<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
