Kelly Clarkson<\/strong><\/a> was moved to tears on stage in one of her final performances before the death<\/a> of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an emotional video<\/a> from the July 26 show of her Las Vegas residency, Clarkson, 43, wiped her eyes while introducing her song \u201cPiece by Piece.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis next song, I\u2019ve never rewritten a song more,\u201d she told the audience. \u201cAnd I probably never will. I wrote this song with a lot of hope, OK? And projection for happiness and [something] better than what was happening. And then, well, life set in and I had to change the lyrics.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarkson recalled making the adjustment for a show two years prior and thinking, \u201cYou know what? That sounded a little angry.\u201d<\/p>\n

After composing herself, Clarkson said, \u201cAnyway, let\u2019s just sing it. This is \u2018Piece by Piece.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The song appears on Clarkson\u2019s seventh album, also titled Piece by Piece<\/em>, which was released in 2015. She and Blackstock tied the knot<\/a> two years prior, with their relationship and Clarkson\u2019s estrangement from her father serving as the major inspiration behind the lyrics.<\/p>\n

Clarkson and Blackstock welcomed daughter River in 2014 and son Remington in 2016 before the singer filed for divorce<\/a> in 2020. Following a lengthy legal battle, the exes finalized their divorce in 2022.<\/p>\n
