Country music singer Spencer Hatcher<\/strong> is mourning the death of his mother, Holly Hatcher<\/strong>, after a fatal home invasion.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that \u2014 due to a monumental loss in our family \u2014 I must cancel my upcoming shows at VOA Country Music Fest in Butler County, OH (8\/8) and at Rockingham County Fair in Harrisonburg, VA (8\/11 & 8\/12),\u201d Spencer, 28, wrote via Instagram<\/span><\/a> on Wednesday, August 6. \u201cI hope to make these dates up to my fans in the future. I appreciate everyone that has lent their support to me and my loved ones. We ask that everyone please respect our family\u2019s privacy at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Rockingham County Sheriff\u2019s Office confirmed the death of Holly in a press release shared on August 5. She was 62.<\/p>\n

Police say they responded to an emergency call on August 3 for service involving a home invasion with an armed intruder.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom filmmakers to artists, Hollywood lost many stars in 2025. News broke on January 4 that Aubrey Plaza\u2019s estranged husband, Jeff Baena, died one day earlier at the age of 47. Per medical examiner records viewed by Us Weekly, Baena died by suicide. \u201cThis is an unimaginable tragedy,\u201d Plaza\u2019s rep said in a statement to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Deputies located the caller and Holly\u2019s husband, Michael Hatcher<\/strong>, \u201csuffering from visible injuries sustained during the home invasion and subsequent altercation with an armed intruder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another male subject named Kevin Walker<\/strong>, 41, was located in the driveway and was determined to be deceased.<\/p>\n

When deputies entered the home, they located a female victim of the home invasion, who was later identified as Holly.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was determined that the offender entered the home armed with a large knife and stabbed the victim, causing her fatal injuries,\u201d police said in a press release. \u201cThe offender proceeded to attack the caller with the knife and an altercation began. The altercation continued outside the residence, and the caller was able to retrieve a handgun from his vehicle and fire a single shot, which stopped the attack and killed the offender.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson<\/strong> added, \u201cUpon consultation with Commonwealth\u2019s Attorney Marsha Garst this morning, there will be no charges filed due to the offender being deceased.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an August 7 press conference<\/span><\/a> with Hutcheson, both Spencer and Michael, 65, spoke out about the death of their family member and the \u201chorrific event\u201d that happened in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been a highly unusual event,\u201d Spencer said. \u201cThere are a lot of rumors, but we\u2019re coming to you with just the facts we know.\u201d<\/p>\n
