It was an icy Monday when Saweetie tap, tap, tapped into the KTLA 5 Morning News to link up with entertainment anchor Melvin Robert.<\/p>\n
The rapper joined him in the studio after she caught wind of his tutorial on her song \u201cBoffum,\u201d<\/a> to Frank Buckley, Jessica Holmes and Mark Kriski. She then decided she wanted to explain it to the KTLA 5 audience herself<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cSo \u2018Boffum\u2019 is basically a condensed version of both of them, you know? So do you want the creamer or the milk? Boffum,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cMost times you don\u2019t want to make a choice, you want it all!\u201d Eric Spillman chimed in.<\/p>\n \u201cAbsolutely,\u201d Saweetie agreed, whose real name is Diamont\u00e9 Quiava Valentin Harper. \u201cThat\u2019s why you get paid the big bucks.\u201d<\/p>\n The single is from the artist\u2019s latest album, \u201cHella Pressure.\u201d The term \u201chella\u201d pays homage to the slang of the San Francisco Bay Area, where she\u2019s originally from.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been on this journey for quite some time, and you know, when you\u2019re on the journey of where you see yourself going, sometimes you face constructive criticism, scrutiny. But I feel like I\u2019m under pressure, I\u2019ve been shining like a diamond, and my real name is Diamante. So it\u2019s very aligned with with my life,\u201d she said of the five-track project. \u201cI just felt like, between the pressure that I felt publicly and the pressure that I applied on myself, these are the culmination of those songs that I worked really hard on. So it\u2019s just like, not only am I under pressure, I\u2019m applying pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n On the project, the USC alum works with the K-pop group Twice for the song \u201cSuperstars.\u201d<\/p>\n Over the years, she\u2019s collaborated with plenty of big names. Her dream collaboration is with a major legend, Cher.<\/p>\n \u201cWe shot a MAC Cosmetics campaign together, and I was on this vintage Instagram the other day, and I saw her perform, and her performances used to be so crazy,\u201d she told Robert. \u201cShe\u2019s been such a great, like a big sister, a mentor. (She) checks up on me sometimes. So I think it\u2019d be great to collaborate with the icon like that.\u201d<\/p>\n She revealed the best piece of advice the \u201cTurn Back Time\u201d singer gave her was: \u201cJust do you.\u201d<\/p>\n Saweetie\u2019s \u201cHella Pressure\u201d is out now and is available wherever you get your music.<\/p>\n She\u2019ll be heading back to the Bay Area for the City Connect Concert, presented by Levi\u2019s, after the San Francisco Giants take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Oracle Park on Aug. 16.
