According to Apple TV+, that\u2019s because he\u2019s been gearing up to release a five-part documentary on his life\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Titled Mr. Scorsese, the five-part documentary plans to offer \u201cunrestricted access to Scorsese\u2019s private archives,\u201d featuring interviews with Cate Blanchett, Daniel Day-Lewis, Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jodie Foster, Mick Jagger, Margot Robbie, Thelma Schoonmaker, Paul Schrader, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, and, of course, Scorsese himself. Mr. Scorsese premieres on Apple TV+ on 17 October.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The first trailer (above) features a story from Spielberg about how the director once called him in a panic about Taxi Driver. \u201cYou got to help me,\u201d Scorsese told him. \u201cThey want me to cut out all the blood.\u201d Scorsese also threatened to buy a gun if the studio held his rough cuts hostage, though it was only a threat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mr. Scorsese is directed by Rebecca Miller, who previously directed Arthur Miller: Writer\u2014a 2017 documentary about her father, the Pulitzer prize\u2013winning playwright who wrote Death of a Salesman, All My Sons, The Crucible, and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThis project is a filmmaker\u2019s dream, to have had such access to legends of the industry, from Marty himself to his prolific collaborator,\u201d Miller said in a statement for the trailer\u2019s release. \u201cI was honored he trusted me to create this documentary, which I believe will resonate with everyone from dedicated Scorsese fans to anyone who has grappled with failure and reached for the stars. I\u2019m excited to share a sneak peek of Mr. Scorsese, which includes the true version of a mythic, never-before-told story about Taxi Driver, and how thanks to Marty\u2019s perseverance and dedication to his art, the film retained its integrity and went on to become one of the most culturally significant films of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Watch the full trailer above.
