Check out the details below.<\/p>\n<p>The upcoming release follows on from the film being <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/depeche-mode-announce-new-epic-live-movie-m-3853596\">announced in April<\/a> and receiving a rapturous reception at this year\u2019s Tribeca Festival. It is set to screen in over 2,500 cinemas across more than 60 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Made by the band along with Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision, the limited theatrical event will begin on October 28, and gives fans of the band the opportunity to see Dave Gahan and Martin Gore on their journey \u201cinto the heart of Mexican culture\u2019s relationship with death, framed by the iconic live performances\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The film was conceived and directed by award-winning Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frias, and comprises footage from the band\u2019s three sold-out shows at the Foro Sol Stadium in Mexico City \u2013 held as part of their<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/watch-depeche-mode-play-final-show-of-memento-mori-world-tour-3615551\"> \u2018Memento Mori\u2019 2023 and 2024 tour<\/a>. It also sees the members illustrate their multi-cultural influences and explore the connection between music, mortality, and Mexican tradition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt its core, our new film <em>M<\/em> is about the deep connection between music, culture, and people \u2013 and Fernando Fr\u00edas, who directed and conceived the film, did a beautiful job telling that story that through the lens of Mexican culture and our shows in Mexico City,\u201d said Gahan.<\/p>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_3884361\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3884361\" style=\"width: 2042px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3884361\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Depeche Mode \u2018M\u2019 movie poster. This cinematic experience is a perfect celebration of the \u2018Memento Mori Tour\u2019 and the deep connection Depeche Mode has with their global fanbase.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Frias, the project comes following his work on the award-winning film <em>I\u2019m No Longer Here<\/em>, which cleaned up at Mexico\u2019s prestigious Ariel Academy Awards, taking home 10 wins. It also follows on from his latest film, <em>I Don\u2019t Expect Anyone to Believe Me<\/em>, which was released in 2023 to critical acclaim.<\/p>\n<p>With their shows in Mexico City, Depeche Mode played to nearly 200,000 fans, and all shows on the extensive tour came in celebration of their <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/depeche-mode-memento-mori-review-3418286\">15th studio album of the same name<\/a>. That record marked the first since the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/depeche-modes-andy-fletcher-has-died-at-the-age-of-60-3234836\">tragic passing of synth player and founding member Andy Fletcher<\/a>, who died back in May 2022, aged just 60.<\/p>\n<p>During the dates between 2023 and 2024, the band played to more than 3million fans globally at 112 shows around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for the theatrical release of <em>M<\/em> go on sale from September 17 and will be <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.depechemodem.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available here<\/a>. Fletch was part of what we knew as Depeche Mode for the last 40 years,\u201d Gahan told us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLosing Fletch made that feeling more real. Everything will come to an end. I don\u2019t know when that is. After Fletch passed and we had to continue, I said, \u2018Try to enjoy what you\u2019ve got to do here and do the best you can\u2019. In the discussion, he also revealed <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/dave-gahan-on-whats-next-for-depeche-mode-3819290\">what is on the cards for Depeche Mode<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be honest it\u2019s taken me quite a while just to recover after the tour\u2026 It was fantastic and ended up being more than what Martin and I could have imagined in many ways,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve just spent the last five months since I got home just trying to get back into my regular life of family, friends, a little bit of writing here and there, but to be honest I\u2019m not that inspired by anything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt takes a while. Wait and see. I wouldn\u2019t rule out getting together at some point, but it\u2019s not on the cards at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the summer of 2023,<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/live\/depeche-mode-live-in-london-twickenham-stadium-review-setlist-photos-3457601\"><em>\u00a0NME<\/em> gave the \u2018Memento Mori\u2019 show in London set a glowing four-star review<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe famously fractious tensions in the band seem to have given way to fraternity, never more heartwarming than during the pally wedding dancing between members that closes the monolithic \u2018Enjoy The Silence\u2019, or the tender hug they share after Gahan and Gore\u2019s duet on \u2018Waiting For The Night\u2019,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat ultimately hits the hardest is the generosity of bangers and the graceful energy they arrive with. Look at that setlist [\u2026] Come on.
