Craig Mazin (<em>The Last of Us<\/em>) was initially collaborating with original series writer Ted Elliott before the strikes, but Jeff Nathanson (<em>Dead Men Tell No Tales<\/em>) has since taken the lead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The longtime <em>Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em> shepherd has described the upcoming movie as a reboot, but that doesn\u2019t necessarily mean a Sparrow-less voyage. Jack Sparrow\u2019s eccentric blend of Pep\u00e9 Le Pew charm and Keith Richards swagger wasn\u2019t in the original script, but was the actor\u2019s invention. And it\u2019s hard to imagine the franchise without it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">If the <em>Ed Wood<\/em> star does step back into Captain Jack\u2019s boots, it would signal a major thaw in his post-2018 split with Disney and years of self-imposed distance from Hollywood studio fare.
