A television star best known for her work on a popular sitcom has died.<\/p>\n
Danielle Spencer, known for playing the role of Dee Thomas on the series \u201cWhat\u2019s Happening!!\u201d has died at 60, according to People<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a post on Instagram<\/a>, Spencer\u2019s costar Heywood Nelson shared that \u201cDr. Dee, our brilliant, loving, positive, pragmatic warrior, without fail, has finally found her release from the clutches of this world and a body.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe celebrate Danielle Spencer and her contributions as we regret to inform her departure and transition from a long battle with cancer,\u201d Nelson wrote. \u201cWe have lost a daughter, sister, family member, \u2018What\u2019s Happening\u2019 cast member, veterinarian animal rights proponent and healer, and cancer heroine. Our Shero. Danielle is loved. She will be missed in this form and forever embraced.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Spencer started acting at age 7 in a theater company co-founded by her stepfather, actor Tim Pelt. Spencer and Pelt were involved in a car accident in 1977, which left her seriously injured and her stepfather dead.<\/p>\n She wrote about the ordeal and losing Pelt in her book, \u201cThrough the Fire \u2026 Journal of a Child Star” released in 2010.<\/p>\n While she would occasionally return to the screen for both television and film roles, Spencer pursued a career in veterinary medicine, and even combined both careers by playing one in the film \u201cAs Good as It Gets.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
