Rocker Dave Edmunds<\/strong>, 81, is fighting for his life in a U.K. hospital after experiencing \u201cmajor cardiac arrest\u201d that left him with \u201cbrain damage and severe memory loss,\u201d according to the musician\u2019s heartbroken wife, Cici<\/strong>, per WalesOnline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The makeup artist shared the news on Facebook<\/a>, telling fans that her \u201cbeloved\u201d spouse of 40 years \u2014 known for 1970s hits such as \u201cI Hear You Knocking\u201d and \u201cCrawling From the Wreckage\u201d \u2014 died in her arms at the couple\u2019s home in his native Wales before being revived by medical personnel.<\/p>\n

Cici explains that as Edmunds slipped away, she \u201cdesperately\u201d tried to keep him alive, \u201cwhile trying to clear his airways from all of the fluids that come out of a human being\u2019s body when we pass.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also adds that a nurse was \u201cpumping away really hard performing heavy CPR\u201d and even told her, \u201cDave is gone. He is dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet Cici refused to give up \u2014 relaying that in the moment there was \u201cno time for emotions\u201d as \u201cevery second\u201d was vital. She credits ICU doctors with performing a \u201cmiracle\u201d by \u201cresurrecting him for a moment,\u201d but shares that he was \u201cvery clearly\u201d impaired and needed to be \u201cintubated.\u201d<\/p>\n

The devoted gal says, \u201cMy brilliant talented funny and special Dave could really use as many peoples prayers and good wishes so to speak.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cici acknowledges, \u201cDave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have,\u201d adding that \u201cthe risk of yet another major cardiac arrest is high. And if that occurs there is no chance for Dave.\u201d<\/p>\n

She adds, \u201cI\u2019m still in shock and I believe I have PTSD from the horrific experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Edmunds\u2019 last album release was 2015\u2019s On Guitar \u2026 Rags & Classics and he reportedly retired from performing two years later following a pair of shows in Finland with pal Brian Setzer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
