Harris Dickinson\u2019s feature directorial debut, Urchin<\/a><\/em>, has found a home on this year\u2019s release calendar following its success at the Cannes Film Festival.<\/p>\n The movie is set to hit theaters Oct. 10 from 1-2 Special, the indie distributor that launched earlier this year. Dickinson\u2019s film stars Frank Dillane, Megan Northam, Amr Waked, Shonagh Marie and Karyna Khymchuk.<\/p>\n More from The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n Urchin<\/em> centers on Dillane as Mike, an unhoused London-based addict who attempts to turn his life around after a stint in prison.<\/p>\n Dickinson helmed the film from his own script. Archie Pearch and Scott O\u2019Donnell serve as producers.<\/p>\n Urchin premiered in May<\/a> at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the Un Certain Regard competition, where Dickinson won the FIPRESCI Prize, while Dillane prevailed as best actor.<\/p>\n In his Urchin<\/em> review for The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, chief film critic David Rooney wrote of the lead character, \u201cPerhaps the key achievement of Urchin<\/em> is that it makes us see him and feel for his struggle.\u201d<\/p>\n Rooney continued about the feature, \u201cThis is fundamentally a one-person show, piloted by Frank Dillane like a reckless driver forever losing control of the wheel.\u201d<\/p>\n During an interview with THR<\/em><\/a> from Cannes, Dickinson noted that he began working on the Urchin<\/em> script six years prior to its premiere and already has an idea for his next directorial project. Dickinson recently appeared opposite Nicole Kidman in Babygirl <\/em>and is set to play John Lennon in Sam Mendes\u2019 forthcoming four-film Beatles project<\/a> for Sony.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always going to be an adjustment for people who have seen me as an actor and know me as an actor, but for me, that\u2019s been my goal,\u201d Dickinson said about pursuing filmmaking. \u201cAnd the dream was to do a full-length film, and hopefully, I get to do it again.
