Although Halloween is still two months away, a haunting is coming to Vallejo early this year.<\/p>\n

Steve Copeland, publicity director and performer with Paranormal Cirque, a horror-themed circus show, hopes to entice audiences this weekend with a blend of scary, sexy and funny performances. He says the show is a perfect blend of his three passions: circus, comedy and horror.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been a horror fan since I was a little kid,\u201d says Copeland. \u201cI was fascinated with monsters, stuff like that, and then when I was a teenager I really got into horror movies and that continues today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Copeland plays a couple of comedic characters throughout the show, one of which dons a white powdered wig and full colonial-era costume.<\/p>\n

\u201cI play an Italian ghost that\u2019s the owner of the castle that the show takes place in,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t want to give away the other character because it\u2019s a bit of a surprise.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time that Copeland and paranormal Cirque has come to Vallejo, but this time, they are bringing new haunts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe comedy is new for 2025 and we also have some new acts, so even if people have seen us the previous times we\u2019ve been in Vallejo, well, they can come and check out what\u2019s new for 2025,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Their sword swallower is new this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe also does pushups and Hula hoops and jump ropes with a steel sword down her throat, which I think is super impressive because I can\u2019t do any of those things without a sword down my throat,\u201d jokes Copeland. They also have a new zombie aerialist, contortionist and a second aerialist that balances on chains.<\/p>\n

Due to mature themes, the show is restricted. Teens under 17 require accompaniment by a parent or guardian and children under 13 are denied entry. Although the show has horror themes, Copeland says the scariest takes place before the show even starts.<\/p>\n

An hour before the cirque, they will have a pre-show haunt that takes place on the fairgrounds. During that time, all of the performers that are going to be wowing you during the performance, they\u2019re going to be out there roaming around as scare actors,\u201d says Copeland. \u201cI would put that up there at a solid eight as far as scary goes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Copeland says that Paranormal Cirque has worked to place easter eggs for horror film fans throughout the pre-show haunt. Once it\u2019s time for the Cirque show itself, it\u2019s \u201ca little scary, but it\u2019s also sexy and funny so it\u2019s a good mixture of that,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

The show is also a good opportunity for a night out, says Copeland.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just a chance for people to come out and forget about all the craziness in the world for a little bit and enjoy some controlled craziness,\u201d he says. I think it\u2019s really important to get out there and see live entertainment that\u2019s done right in front of you.\u201d<\/p>\n
