KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Autograph sessions aren\u2019t unusual at Kauffman Stadium, but on Tuesday, Royals players weren\u2019t signing baseball cards. They were receiving them. <\/p>\n
\u201cI know it just means a lot to those kids,\u201d pitcher Lucas Erceg said. \u201cObviously, the situation that they\u2019re in isn\u2019t really the best.\u201d<\/p>\n
Baseball card company Topps created custom cards for 10 kids who are patients at Children\u2019s Mercy Hospital. Erceg and pitcher Kris Bubic asked teammates to swing by for a special signing session Tuesday afternoon. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhen people want our autographs, I know I like signing for kids and it makes me feel special,\u201d Erceg said. \u201cHopefully it\u2019s the same for them, too.\u201d<\/p>\n The kids got to hang around after to watch batting practice and the team\u2019s game against the Washington Nationals. <\/p>\n \u201cIf there\u2019s anything that we can do to use our outlet to make the day about them in any sort of way, I know it goes a long way for them,\u201d Erceg said.<\/p>\n Copyright 2025 KCTV.
