Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a> opened up about public perceptions \u2014 and how he hopes people receive him.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs tight end, 35, was asked about \u201cthe meathead jock stereotype\u201d during an interview with GQ<\/em><\/a>, published on Tuesday, August 12, which drew candid reflections from the athlete.<\/p>\n

\u201cI joke about it. It is what it is. I\u2019m just out here living life,\u201d Kelce told the outlet before admitting that the stereotype can weigh on him at times. \u201c[But] I don\u2019t necessarily want everyone to think that I\u2019m an idiot.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NFL star, who is dating Taylor Swift<\/strong> and recently helped her announce her forthcoming 12th studio album<\/a>, added that he\u2019s determined to stay true to himself no matter what the public assumes of him. \u201cThere\u2019s always something to learn,\u201d he explained during the interview. \u201cActing like you\u2019re the smartest one in the room just isn\u2019t the way to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelce\u2019s unfiltered thoughts extended to other topics including the game he loves. Acknowledging how his focus has shifted to some off-field pursuits in recent times, Kelce said his NFL performance was subconsciously impacted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it might have slipped a little bit because I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cAnd opportunities came up where I was excited to venture into a new world of acting and being an entertainer.\u201d (Kelce dipped his toes in the acting world on Grotesquerie<\/em><\/a> last year, before hosting the game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?<\/em> and playing a role in Happy Gilmore 2<\/em><\/a>.)<\/p>\n
