Chrissie Hynde<\/a> has announced new album, \u2018Duets Special\u2019, which will see her team up with artists like Brandon Flowers<\/a>, Debbie Harry<\/a>,\u00a0Depeche Mode<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0Dave Gahan<\/a> and more.<\/p>\n The new record from the Pretenders<\/a> frontwoman is set for release on October 17 via Parlophone, and you can pre-save it here<\/a>. Across the 13-track album, Hynde will join forces with a host of world-class collaborators, including the late Mark Lanegan<\/a>, Dan Auerbach<\/a>, Cat Power,<\/a> Garbage\u2019s<\/a> Shirley Manson<\/a>, Alan Sparhawk and more.<\/p>\n Speaking about the origins of the album, she said she\u2019d \u201cnever thought\u201d about doing something like it before.\u00a0\u201cI think the idea came about in 2023,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cI was talking to J\u00f6rn, Rufus Wainwright\u2019s<\/a> husband, on the phone. I think we were recommending novels to each other, and for some reason, I said, \u2018Hey, maybe Rufus and I should do something,\u2019 and quickly scribbled out 10 songs off the top of my head. So J\u00f6rn asked Rufus, who was up for it, and that\u2019s how it started. A spontaneous and what I thought would be a fun thing.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2018Me & Mrs Jones\u2019 (feat. k.d. lang)<\/strong> Over the years, Hynde has appeared on stage beside many of the collaborators on the new album, including at the star-studded gig out together in tribute to the late Mark Lanegan<\/a>, where Dave Gahan \u2013 who also appears on \u2018Duets\u2019- was also in attendance.<\/p>\n Likewise, back in 2015 Brandon Flowers was joined by Hynde at a London gig that saw them take on \u201dDon\u2019t Get Me Wrong\u2019<\/a>. The following year, The Black Keys\u2019 Auerbach joined The Pretenders for a performance on The Late Show<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n As for Hydne\u2019s more recent gigs, she\u00a0went to see one of\u00a0the huge Oasis Live \u201825 reunion shows<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Wembley Stadium in London earlier this month<\/a>, alongside the former\u00a0Smiths<\/a>\u00a0guitarist and his daughter Sonny, as well as Pretenders lead guitarist James Walbourne.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
