Jason Momoa<\/strong><\/a> is sharing how he was scared straight from smoking again after a near-death surfing experience.<\/p>\n

The Chief of War<\/em><\/a> actor, 46, recalled on the Monday, August 11, episode of the \u201cSmartLess\u201d<\/a> podcast how he and a group of friends once surfed Pe\u02bbahi, a big wave surfing break in Maui, Hawaii, when he struggled to overcome the torrential waves.<\/p>\n

Momoa said the leash on his paddle snapped about \u201cseven miles into\u201d the surf. \u201cIt\u2019s so windy on Maui, so the board just went\u2026 I couldn\u2019t see it anymore,\u201d he shared, noting that he was left stranded in the water and began to drown.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took quite a few [waves] on the head. They were pretty big, like 10-foot Hawaiian waves,\u201d he said, adding that his friends couldn\u2019t see him. \u201cThe waves were so big they basically took my shorts off. I reached down, put my shorts back on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAs Jason Momoa rose to stardom, his romantic life quickly became a topic of conversation. After over a decade together, Momoa and Lisa Bonet, who wed in 2017, surprised fans in January 2022 when they confirmed their decision to end their relationship in a joint statement. At this point, Momoa began to think about his family, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI looked in\u2026 my daughter at that time was three months old, and I just lost my s***,\u201d he said. \u201cI couldn\u2019t move anymore. My arms and my legs gave up \u2026 I was out there for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n

Momoa said he found the wherewithal to dig his feet into the coral of the outer reef as he was hit by another wave. \u201cI\u2019m in the middle of the ocean,\u201d he said. \u201cI could barely put my lips above it just to breathe and get a break, but I had already given up. So it\u2019s like, you\u2019ve already given up and died and have a second chance at it. I still stayed up for 10 minutes and I was hanging on the side of this reef.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eventually, one of his friends found him and helped him to safety, however, his feet were \u201ccovered in blood\u201d from the coral.<\/p>\n
