“It’s only a matter of time before I’m staring at you from the cover of a Wheaties box,” the confident main character, played by Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a>, says in the new trailer for Marty Supreme.<\/p>\n The line is telling, offering not only a taste of Marty’s personality but also of the era in which the latest film from writer-director Josh Safdie<\/a> (Uncut Gems<\/a>) is set: the 1950s in the world of competitive table tennis.<\/p>\n See the trailer below.<\/p>\n According to the official description, Chalamet’s Marty Mauser is “a young man with a dream no one respects, who goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.”<\/p>\n In that pursuit, he brags to Gwyneth Paltrow<\/a>‘s movie-star character about being featured in the newspaper, plays a lot of Ping-Pong, romances another woman, makes a daring escape, and more comedy high jinks.<\/p>\n Paltrow, 52, has teased a bit about her role, telling Vanity Fair<\/a> she plays “this woman who is married to someone who is in the Ping-Pong mafia.” She and 29-year-old Chalamet’s Marty “meet, and she\u2019s had a pretty tough life, and I think he breathes life back into her, but it\u2019s kind of transactional for them both.”<\/p>\n “We have a lot of sex in this movie,” she continued. “There\u2019s a lot \u2014 a lot.”<\/p>\n Paparazzi snapped photos of the costars kissing on the film’s set last fall and set off a lot of internet chatter about the stars’ age difference \u2014 and Chalamet’s mustache.<\/p>\n Want more movie news?
