Ed Sheeran\u2019s drummer got a brief break during the singer-songwriter\u2019s sold-out concert in Bucharest, Romania last year. For the duration of \u201cThinking Out Loud,\u201d he found a replacement in actor Chris Hemsworth, who admittedly had no prior drumming experience just a few months prior when he first agreed to play for 70,000 people.<\/a> In an exclusive clip from National Geographic\u2019s Limitless: Live Better Now series, he settles behind the drum kit for one of the biggest moments of the night fueled solely by determination and adrenaline.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen the bass starts, the piano, the guitar, everything hits at the same time,\u201d Hemsworth says in the preview for the episode titled \u201cBrain Power,\u201d which premieres Aug. 15 on Disney+ and Hulu and Aug. 25 on National Geographic. \u201cAnd if I\u2019m off, it\u2019s all off.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n When the song kicks off, he\u2019s in the zone. I\u2019m like, just make sure you\u2019re concentrating on what you\u2019re doing,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m encouraging and welcoming the adrenaline at this point.\u201d Hemsworth feels some nerves come to the surface when it\u2019s time to hit the pre-chorus, but manages to push them away.<\/p>\n \u201cBasically what happened is Chris emailed me last December saying he was doing a documentary on cognitive health and the benefits of learning an instrument,\u201d Sheeran explained backstage in a video he posted on Instagram before the August 2024 concert. \u201cHe came to visit me, and he has learned drums.
