Brandon Blackstock<\/strong>\u2019s death hit close to home for Teddi Mellencamp<\/strong> as she fights her own battle against stage 4 melanoma<\/a>.<\/p>\n On the Wednesday, August 13, installment of her Two T\u2019s in a Pod<\/em> podcast show, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills<\/em> alum, 44, admitted that hearing the news of the talent manager\u2019s passing<\/a> sent her mind into a flurry of questions.<\/p>\n \u201cI wish I had missed that little detail on the World Wide Web because then I started doing research,\u201d she explained. \u201cI was wondering when did it metastasize, like, is this just where my head goes from being in the [same] situation? Did he decline treatment?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s so many different ways this could have happened,\u201d she added, \u201cand I one million [percent] respect their choice of keeping it private.\u201d<\/p>\n Mellencamp, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, revealed that Blackstock\u2019s story specifically \u201chit\u201d her \u201chard\u201d as it was so similar to her own health journey. One notable similarity is that she also has children, Slate<\/strong>, 12, Cruz<\/strong>, 10, Dove<\/strong>, 5, who she shares with ex Edwin Arroyave<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cKelly<\/strong> [Clarkson<\/strong>]<\/a> made it clear when she rescheduled the end of her tour in [Las] Vegas because she needs to be there for her kids,\u201d Mellencamp added. \u201cYou want to support your children, and that\u2019s what I think we do when it comes to illness.\u201d<\/p>\n As Star<\/em> previously reported, Clarkson took to Instagram<\/a> on August 6 to announce that she would be postponing the remainder of her August shows for her Studio Sessions residency in Las Vegas. The following day, it was confirmed that Blackstock had passed away after a three-year battle with cancer.<\/p>\n Despite their messy split in 2020, the \u201cBecause of You\u201d singer wanted her kids \u2013 River<\/strong>, 11, and Remington<\/strong>, 9 \u2013 to have the \u201cbest relationship possible<\/a>\u201d with their dad.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake,\u201d an insider told People<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cIt became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well.
