{"id":1958747,"date":"2025-08-13T21:22:18","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T21:22:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=1958747"},"modified":"2025-08-13T21:22:18","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T21:22:18","slug":"harvey-weinstein-ready-to-face-jurors-for-3rd-time-on-rape-charge-after-shocking-split-verdict-at-nyc-retrial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/harvey-weinstein-ready-to-face-jurors-for-3rd-time-on-rape-charge-after-shocking-split-verdict-at-nyc-retrial\/","title":{"rendered":"Harvey Weinstein &#8216;ready&#8217; to face jurors for 3rd time on rape charge after shocking split verdict at NYC retrial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2025%2F08%2F109550012.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Harvey Weinstein is \u201cready\u201d to face a jury for the third time on a rape accusation following the shocking split verdict at his Manhattan retrial, his attorney said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The disgraced Hollywood mogul\u2019s lawyer, Arthur Aidala, said Weinstein was eager to clear his name as Manhattan prosecutors announced they were ready to retry him on a third-degree rape charge related to aspiring actress Jessica Mann.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re ready to go, judge,\u201d Aidala told the judge during Weinstein\u2019s first appearance in Manhattan Supreme Court since the split <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/11\/us-news\/harvey-weinstein-convicted-of-sex-crime-at-nyc-retrial-but-squabbling-jurors-fail-to-come-to-agreement-on-rape-charge\/\">verdict at his retrial in June<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jurors convicted the former Miramax honcho on June 11 of sexually assaulting former \u201cProject Runway\u201d assistant Miriam Haley in 2006, but acquitted him on a criminal sexual charge against Polish model Kaja Sokola.<\/p>\n<p>A mistrial was declared on the third count as <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/06\/us-news\/playground-drama-in-jury-room-threatens-to-derail-harvey-weinsteins-ny-sex-crimes-retrial\/\">sparring jurors could not reach a verdict <\/a>on the charge relating to Mann, 39, who accused Weinstein, 73, of raping her inside a Manhattan hotel room in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg told the court Wednesday that prosecutors were \u201cready to proceed\u201d in retrying Weinstein on that rap, with hopes of setting a January trial date.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>But Justice Curtis Farber balked at their request, saying that the proposed date was \u201cnot acceptable\u201d after he was previously told that the case would be retried in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>The judge said another trial would have to take place before the end of the year \u2014 adding that Weinstein would not be sentenced on the other count until the unresolved matters were handled.<\/p>\n<p>Farber ordered all parties back to court on Sept. 30 and said that he would set a new trial date or sentence Weinstein, who appeared in a wheelchair, if the outstanding matters were taken care of.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Harvey Weinstein appears in court Wednesday. <span class=\"credit\">Steven Hirsch<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Arthur Aidala, Weinstein\u2019s attorney, said the disgraced Hollywood mogul isn\u2019t interested in a plea deal. <span class=\"credit\">Steven Hirsch<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Weinstein\u2019s attorney said outside the courthouse that his client was eager to get things moving and not interested in a plea deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe doesn\u2019t want the word rape associated with him,\u201d Aidala said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Harvey Weinstein is awaiting sentencing after he was partially convicted in June. <span class=\"credit\">Steven Hirsch<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Weinstein was convicted in 2020 for sexually assaulting and rape at the height of the #MeToo movement. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison before an appeals court overturned the Manhattan convicted in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>He was separated convicted in December 2020 of similar sex crimes in Los Angeles, where he was sentenced to 16 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in June that his office would try the case again after Mann agreed to take the stand a third time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will never give up on myself and making sure my voice \u2013 and the truth \u2013 is heard.
