Kid Cudi<\/a> sat down with CBS News<\/a>\u2018 Anthony Mason to speak on his recently released autobiography, Cudi: The Memoir<\/a>, and was asked about his much publicized testimony during the Diddy trial<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was really hard. I didn\u2019t want to do it,\u201d he answered after being asked how hard it was for him to testify. \u201cI got subpoenaed and I knew I was helping Cassie<\/a> and I just wanted to be there for her and help her out. It was a tough situation.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n He then added that he felt backlash from fans on social media and friends in his personal life for taking the stand even though he\u2019s never associated himself or made music about street life.<\/p>\n \u201cThe backlash was swift,\u201d Cudi admitted. \u201cI had a lot of people that supported me, but there were a few that were \u2014 you know \u2014 had some opinions about it. It was interesting because I\u2019m not no street dude. I don\u2019t live by no code, you know? I guess it\u2019s because I\u2019m a rapper, people just threw that on me. But, like, my music has never been about that and I have never tried to pretend I was about that. I\u2019m from the suburbs, baby, you know what I\u2019m sayin\u2019? Straight up.\u201d<\/p>\n Adding, \u201cBut I ain\u2019t let it faze me, so I know I was doing the right thing. F\u2014 \u2019em, you know. Let those mother\u2014-ers think whatever they want.\u201d<\/p>\n And when it finally came to actually being on the stand, Cudi said that the experience was a \u201cweird\u201d one. \u201cIt was weird, man, because that was the first time I had seen him in a while,\u201d he said. \u201cWe made eye contact a couple times. It was f\u2014king weird, but I\u2019m glad I got through it. Got it behind me.
