Taylor Swift is set to bring more glitter pen songs on The Life of a Showgirl<\/a>.<\/em> The superstar shared that Max Martin and Shellback are back as the sole producers, along with Swift, for her 12th studio album<\/a>.<\/p>\n Swift revealed the news on Wednesday night during her episode of the New Heights<\/a><\/em> podcast. On the show, the singer called Martin her \u201cmentor\u201d before describing their work together. \u201cThe three of us have made some of my favorite songs that I\u2019ve ever done before,\u201d she said, referring to some of her biggest hits such as \u201c22,\u201d \u201cShake It Off,\u201d and \u201cBlank Space.\u201d \u201cThey\u2019re just geniuses in different avenues, in different ways,\u201d Swift said of the producer duo.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve never actually made an album before where it\u2019s just the three of us,\u201d she continued, before confirming: \u201cThere\u2019s no other collaborators. It\u2019s just the three of us making a focused album.\u201d For Swift\u2019s last five albums, the musician teamed up with Jack Antonoff <\/a>and Aaron Dessne<\/a>r, whom she also tapped for work on her Taylor\u2019s Version<\/em> re-recording project. She touched on the intervening years where she worked on surprise album folklore<\/a><\/em> and evermore<\/a><\/em>, calling those projects \u201cesoteric.\u201d \u201cI was just kind of exploring and trying to challenge myself as a writer,\u201d she said of that time.<\/p>\n The time apart proved to be just what Swift, Martin, and Shellback needed. \u201cBy the time we came back together, I feel like we had so much more dexterity to what we do,\u201d she said, adding: \u201cIt felt like all three of us in the room were carrying the same weight as creators.\u201d The singer praised the creative experience and noted that the record contains \u201cthe best ideas we\u2019ve ever had.\u201d<\/p>\n The musician shared that the production work for The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> occurred on the Eras Tour<\/a> while she was in Sweden. \u201cWhen I was on tour in Stockholm, I had Max Martin come out to the show, and I was talking to him, and I was like, \u2018I just feel like we could knock it out of the park if we went back in.\u201d<\/p>\n Swift\u2019s main focus of the album was how it connected to her career-spanning tour. \u201cI essentially said to him, \u2018I want to be as proud of it as an album as I am of the Eras Tour, and for the same reasons,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd he was like, \u2018Do you understand what kind of pressure that is?’\u201d To Swift\u2019s credit, she definitely does.<\/p>\n \u201cI know the pressure I\u2019m putting on this record by saying that, but I don\u2019t care because I love it that much,\u201d she said, before going on to describe the \u201ceffervescent\u201d energy of The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>. \u201cIt just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n Best of Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n Sign up for RollingStone’s Newsletter<\/a>.
