Online<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Dacre Montgomery<\/a> is getting back to saner things.<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>“<\/span><\/a>Stranger Things<\/span>“<\/a> star explained the reason he took an extended hiatus from Hollywood after playing Billy Hargrove on the Netflix series, reflecting on the \u201cchange\u201d the industry has undergone over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTraditional Hollywood stars existed because there was mystery,\u201d Montgomery recently told The Australian, per the <\/span>Daily Mail<\/span><\/a>. \u201cSocial media has done away with that. That\u2019s a large part of why I dropped off the map for the last five years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n He added, \u201cI\u2019m not trying to compete with anyone else, I\u2019m living my truth and hopefully being able to pay the rent while I’m doing it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Beyond regaining his privacy, the 30-year-old \u2014 who starred alongside <\/span>Millie Bobby Brown<\/a>, <\/span>Finn Wolfhard and <\/span>Noah Schnapp in Stranger Things \u2014 emphasized his desire to reclaim his identity.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve given a piece of myself to every role I\u2019ve played and that\u2019s largely why I\u2019ve taken time off,\u201d he continued. \u201cLately, there\u2019s been a lot of personal reflection about what I want in my career.
