Pete Davidson<\/strong><\/a> is getting candid about his past drug addiction.<\/p>\n

The Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/a> alum dropped by Power 105.1 FM\u2019s The Breakfast Club<\/em> radio show on Wednesday, August 13, and opened up about how smoking weed affected his mental health.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was a daily, all day sorta guy and I got psychosis where you hear voices, and you feel like you\u2019re sitting next to yourself, weed isn\u2019t supposed to do that \u2026 it\u2019s because it\u2019s too strong,\u201d Davidson, 31, said.<\/p>\n

The comedian said he struggled with substance addiction in his 20s, while also dealing with the effects of fame after he was cast on SNL<\/em> in 2014.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPete Davidson has had his fair share of highs and lows through the years \u2014 from professional successes to broken engagements. In the early 2010s, Davidson made quite a name for himself in the entertainment industry after starring on Guy Code in 2013 and joining Saturday Night Live as one of the longtime series\u2019 youngest [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYeah, I was just doing drugs and trying to do comedy \u2014 you know what I mean? I didn\u2019t kill anyone or anything, but it\u2019s still\u2026 you don\u2019t want that out, you want to be able to grow,\u201d he shared. \u201cThat\u2019s what we don\u2019t really have anymore \u2014 any form of privacy, I feel like, for young people where you, like, get to make those mistakes and learn your lessons, and it not be in Page Six.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was a big drug addict \u2014 I would go to rehab and stuff, and I do have mental stuff, and I was in therapy, but if you\u2019re a drug addict none of that works,\u201d Davidson continued. \u201cYou can\u2019t go to therapy on a bunch of drugs and expedite it to work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davidson shared how he eventually kicked his habit after realizing that it was affecting his personal relationships.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cI\u2019m not a person who can do things in moderation, unfortunately, and I think I was kinda trying to fool myself \u2014 be like, \u2018You can do this\u2019 \u2014 and it just got to a point where people I really cared about were like, I will not f*** with you anymore.\u2019 Some of them don\u2019t still. Most of them, I will say, came back.\u201d<\/p>\n
