In her 20-year career, Taylor Swift<\/strong> has never done an interview with a boyfriend, let alone an in-depth one where she talked about their relationship. That\u2019s what she gave fans in her appearance on Travis Kelce<\/strong> and Jason<\/strong> Kelce<\/strong>\u2018s New Heights<\/em> podcast Wednesday night<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 and so much more.<\/p>\n Of course, Taylor was on the podcast to promote her new album,\u00a0The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>, due Oct. 3. Produced by Max Martin<\/strong> and Shellback<\/strong>, with whom she hasn\u2019t worked since Reputation,<\/em> the album features 12 tracks and only<\/em> 12 tracks: Taylor swore she\u2019s not going to drop an extra 20 songs a few hours later.<\/p>\n \u201cThis album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during [the Eras Tour], which was so exuberant, and electric and vibrant,\u201d she said. She recorded it while she was on the Eras Tour, flying back and forth to Stockholm, Sweden, to work with Martin and Shellback.<\/p>\n \u201cI essentially said to [Martin], \u2018I wanna be \u2026 as proud of an album as I am of the Eras Tour and for the same reasons,’\u201d Taylor revealed.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is the record I\u2019ve been wanting to make for a very long time,\u201d she stated. \u201cI care about this record more than I can even overstate.\u201d Travis added that he\u2019s heard every song, saying it comprises \u201c12 bangers\u201d and describing it as \u201ca lot more upbeat and a lot more fun pop excitement \u2014 a complete 180 from the songs on Tortured Poets<\/em>, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n The theme of the album, Taylor said, is \u201ceverything that was going on behind the curtain\u201d during the tour, noting that the cover of the album depicts her at the end of the show, when she would literally be in a bathtub recovering.<\/p>\n Her goals for the album were \u201cmelodies that were so infectious that you\u2019re almost angry at it. And lyrics that are just as vivid, but crisp, and focused and completely intentional.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition to the new music, Taylor discussed how her relationship with Travis began and how it unfolded, buying back her master recordings, the \u201cgranny\u201d hobbies she\u2019s taken up since the tour\u2019s end, her father\u2019s health after his recent quintuple bypass surgery, how she became a crazed football fan and lots more.
