Sung Kang<\/a> made his \u201cFast & Furious\u201d debut in the 2006 movie \u201cThe Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n And this month, the actor, known for playing Han Lue<\/a> in the big-screen action franchise, is asking New Jersey locals to join him as he films his latest movie, \u201cDrifter<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Kang will be filming Saturday, Aug. 23 and Sunday, Aug. 24 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park<\/a> in Englishtown as part of Legends of Drift<\/a>.<\/p>\n The event is billed as a drifting competition, car show and movie set all rolled into one celebration of car culture.<\/p>\n Drifting<\/a>, unlike car racing, is centered on choreographed swerving and sliding. The sport got its start in Japan.<\/p>\n The drifting series Formula Drift<\/a> has called Raceway Park<\/a> and other local tracks home.<\/p>\n Kang is both starring in and directing \u201cDrifter<\/a>,\u201d which he calls his \u201cdream project.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTo keep the culture authentic, I tapped a few of my friends to help,\u201d he said in an Instagram video, listing people from the drifting world who will be part of the production.<\/p>\n One is pro driver Adam LZ<\/a>, who is playing a role in the movie.<\/p>\n Legends of Drift<\/a> is a ticketed event. (Tickets<\/a> are $47.25 for a single day and $83.25 for both days.)<\/p>\n \u201cIf you\u2019ve ever loved drifting, car culture, or just that feeling of being part of something bigger, I hope you\u2019ll come out and join us,\u201d Kang said in his post. \u201cWho knows\u2026 maybe you\u2019ll even make it into the movie.”<\/p>\n Kang, 53, played the perennially snacking character Han Lue in the third \u201cFast & Furious\u201d movie \u201cThe Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift<\/a>.”<\/p>\n He originated the character in the 2002 movie \u201cBetter Luck Tomorrow<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Both films were helmed by Justin Lin<\/a>, who went on to direct Kang in the \u201cFast & Furious\u201d movies \u201cFast & Furious<\/a>\u201d (2009), \u201cFast Five<\/a>\u201d (2011), \u201cFast & Furious 6<\/a>\u2033 (2013) and \u201cF9<\/a>\u2033 (2021).<\/p>\n Kang made his own directorial debut in 2022 with the horror comedy \u201cShaky Shivers<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n His TV roles include John Mak<\/a>, the assistant U.S. attorney in the Starz series \u201cPower<\/a>\u201d and \u201cPower Book II: Ghost<\/a>,\u201d and The Fifth Brother<\/a> in the Disney+ \u201cStar Wars\u201d series \u201cObi-Wan Kenobi<\/a>\u201d (2022).<\/p>\n In 2020, Kang started a YouTube channel and podcast called \u201cSung\u2019s Garage<\/a>.”<\/p>\n Thank you for reading.
