Taylor Swift just put a debate in the Swiftie community to rest during her appearance on Travis Kelce\u2019s New Heights<\/em> podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n The singer\u2019s highly anticipated appearance on her boyfriend\u2019s podcast<\/a>, which he co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce, delivered plenty of major updates, including an album cover for her 12th record, The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>, and the announcement that it\u2019ll be released on October 3.<\/p>\n More from SheKnows<\/strong><\/p>\n But among those updates was an answer to the all-important question of which version of Swift\u2019s first six albums should we be listening to: the originals or the rerecords?<\/p>\n The saga of Swift\u2019s early albums<\/a> dates back to 2019, when music manager Scooter Braun bought Swift\u2019s former record label Big Machine, which gave him ownership of all the songs from the now-35-year-old singer\u2019s early albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, <\/em>and Reputation<\/em>.<\/p>\n In addition to having personal issues with Braun, who managed one of Swift\u2019s longtime enemies<\/a>, Kanye West, the singer was publicly devastated by not owning her masters and began a years-long pursuit to rerecord her early works as part of her \u201cTaylor\u2019s Version\u201d series.<\/p>\n Swift rerecorded four of the six albums, leaving just her eponymous first album and Reputation<\/em> left to be rerecorded. However, before the \u201cTaylor\u2019s Version\u201d project was completed, the Grammy winner bought back her masters in May.<\/p>\n \u201cAll of the music I\u2019ve ever made now belongs to me,\u201d said the star, announcing the news\u00a0on her official website.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve been bursting into tears of joy\u2026 ever since I found out this is really happening.\u201d<\/p>\n However, for Swifties who\u2019d long stopped listening to original versions of the albums to throw their support behind the singer\u2019s \u201cTaylor\u2019s Version\u201d project, this left them feeling unsure about which versions were best to listen to.<\/p>\n Swift responded to that on New Heights<\/em>, saying that she thinks the newer versions of her work are \u201cbetter\u201d but said fans are free to choose to listen to whatever they want.<\/p>\n \u201cI wouldn\u2019t put the re-records if they weren\u2019t held up or were better. A lot of the vocals I did on the rerecords were better than the originals,\u201d she explained. \u201cBut it\u2019s like if you found the nostalgia you were listening to in the originals, and that\u2019s when you were listening to when you were 12 and you were bopping your bedroom, go crazy. We got them all.\u201d<\/p>\n Swift also spoke about the importance of buying back her work. \u201cI want it because these are my handwritten diary entries from my whole life. These are the songs I wrote about every phase of my life.
