Lana Del Rey has shared a clip of unreleased music on social media that appears to reference Ethel Cain by name.<\/p>\n
Posted on 13th August, the video shows Del Rey in a car as a new track plays. In the snippet, she is heard singing: \u201cEthel Cain hated my Instagram post \/ Think it\u2019s cute reenacting my Chicago post\u201d. The line continues: \u201cHard to roll in slow motion \/ Hard to say no to precaution \/ Hard to stop when it\u2019s like an ocean \/ Not afraid to say I\u2019m going down in flames.\u201d Later in the clip, another passage states: \u201cThe most famous girl at the Waffle House \/ I don\u2019t regret it \/ The most famous girl at the Waffle House\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Waffle House reference mirrors the headline of a 2022 New York Times profile of Ethel Cain, titled \u201cThe Most Famous Girl At The Waffle House\u201d. Del Rey, meanwhile, was seen serving coffee at a Waffle House in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2023.<\/p>\n
In 2022, Del Rey posted a photo outside Cook County Jail with Salem\u2019s Jack Donoghue. Around the same time, Cain shared \u2014 and later deleted \u2014 a photo of herself with Donoghue on social media.<\/p>\n
In earlier posts, Ethel Cain wrote: \u201cI pushed her over when I ran past\u201d and \u201cShe\u2019ll never catch up to me in her Macy\u2019s dress\u201d. She also referred to being compared to \u201cthe lady\u201d.<\/p>\n
Del Rey is preparing her tenth album, renamed from \u2018Lasso\u2019 to \u2018The Right Person Will Stay\u2019. She has already released two tracks from the project, \u2018Bluebird\u2019 and \u2018Henry, Come On\u2019. The record is widely reported to lean into a country sound and will follow 2023\u2019s \u2018Did You Know That There\u2019s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd\u2019.<\/p>\n
