The upcoming \u201cBig Bang Theory\u201d spinoff \u201cStuart Fails to Save the Universe\u201d<\/a> has several alums from the OG series on the cast \u2014 but some of them are playing new characters.<\/p>\n

Ryan Cartwright and Josh Brener will play Kyle and Trevor, respectively, on \u201cStuart Fails to Save the Universe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both actors previously popped up in \u201cThe Big Bang Theory,\u201d which aired on CBS from 2007-2019. Cartwright played Penny\u2019s (Kaley Cuoco) classmate in episode 8 of season 6, and Brener appeared in two episodes \u2014 episode 10 of season 5 and episode 16 of season 6 \u2014 as a comic book store employee named Dale.<\/p>\n

Cartwright and Brener are billed as recurring characters on \u201cStuart Fails to Save the Universe,\u201d but even some of the spinoff\u2019s main cast members had only small roles in the original series. John Ross Bowie (Barry Kripke) was in 25 episodes, Brian Posehn (Bert Kibbler) was in 15, and Lauren Lapkus (Denise) was in just eight episodes of the show\u2019s 12-season run.<\/p>\n

\u201cStuart Fails to Save the Universe\u201d star Kevin Sussman (Stuart Bloom) had the biggest footprint on \u201cThe Big Bang Theory,\u201d with appearances in 85 episodes.<\/p>\n

The new series will also feature a brand new face. Tommy Walker will portray Denise\u2019s boyfriend, Gary.<\/p>\n

As the title suggests, \u201cStuart Fails to Save the Universe\u201d follows the titular comic book store owner\u2019s quest to restore reality after he unwittingly creates a \u201cmultiverse Armageddon.\u201d The apocalyptic problem begins after Stuart breaks a device built by \u201cBig Bang Theory\u201d OGs Sheldon and Leonard.<\/p>\n

Jim Parsons (Sheldon) and Johnny Galecki (Leonard) are not in the cast of the spinoff, but it\u2019s possible they could make a surprise cameo.<\/p>\n

\u201cStuart Fails to Save the Universe\u201d is the third \u201cBig Bang Theory\u201d spinoff, after \u201cYoung Sheldon\u201d (2017-2024) and \u201cGeorgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage\u201d (2024-present).<\/p>\n

A premiere date for \u201cStuart Fails to Save the Universe,\u201d which will air on HBO Max, has yet to be announced.<\/p>\n
