Son of famed ‘Sound of Music’ couple launched von Trapp family brewery<\/p>\n
The youngest of the 10 children of Maria and Georg von Trapp of ‘Sound of Music’ fame started an award-winning brewery at the family’s Vermont resort.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
August may be halfway over, but that doesn’t mean things stop happening in the Green Mountain state.<\/p>\n Yankee Magazine listed New England events you can go to <\/a>as the summer winds down and we go into September.<\/p>\n “So before daylight hours contract, there\u2019s a chill in the morning air, and the kids head back to school, make plans to live like August is the best month in New England,” Yankee Magazine said. “Because many New Englanders will tell you\u2026 this is true.”<\/p>\n Yankee Magazine listed events in every state, but here’s what they picked to do in Vermont this August.<\/p>\n As a media partner of A Taste of New England<\/a>, Yankee Magazine listed a series of curated dinners centering the food culture of the Green Mountain state as one of the events to go this August.<\/p>\n “This immersive culinary weekend featuring top New England chefs kicks off Thursday, August 14, with \u201cA Taste of Vermont,\u201d a special five-course meal prepared by some of the state\u2019s most notable chefs,” Yankee Magazine said.<\/p>\n Taking place from Aug. 14 through Aug. 16, the event is being held at Spruce Peak Village Green, located at 7412 Mountain Road in Stowe, Vermont.<\/a><\/p>\n “You can buy tickets for one event, like Friday evening\u2019s sampling extravaganza with a cast of star chefs, or for all of them. Saturday night\u2019s Chef Collaboration Dinner is an extraordinary feast, featuring five courses prepared by five chefs, expertly paired with selections from the Domaine Bousquet Winery.”<\/p>\n Another multi-day event, Yankee Magazine recommended attending the Green Mountain Bluegrass & Roots Festival if you’re into live music and the Great Outdoors.<\/p>\n “Four days of live bluegrass, roots, and Americana music kick off on August 14 and continue clear through the third weekend in August, as Hunter Park at Northshire Civic Center hosts the\u00a0Green Mountain Bluegrass & Roots Festival<\/a><\/strong>,” the magazine said.<\/p>\n Musical acts like the Twisted Pine, the Faux Paws, Molly Tuttle, and Muleskinner are set to perform during this upcoming music festival, according to this Instagram post <\/a>from the festival itself.<\/p>\n Yankee Magazine championed an event that is entering into its 35th year of celebration: the North Country Moose Festival<\/a><\/strong>, which is happening both in Canaan, Vermont, but also in Colebrook, New Hampshire.<\/p>\n “The festival moves across state lines to Canaan, Vermont, on Saturday, August 23, for an old-fashioned country fair and moose\u2019t-see events like Cow Plop Bingo and the Moose Calling Contest,” the magazine said.<\/p>\n You can find this festival at Canaan Recreational Park, located at 6745 VT-102 in Canaan, Vermont<\/a>, according to this event pamphlet.<\/a><\/p>\n Ending the month with a treat for Vermont garlic-lovers, Yankee Magazine recommended the community festival Garlic Town U.S.A.<\/p>\n “On Saturday, August 30, more than 100 purveyors of garlicky goods will gather in downtown Bennington, Vermont, to tantalize your tastebuds (yes, there will be garlic ice cream),” Yankee said.<\/p>\n Last year’s Garlic Town U.S.A. had more than 10,000 visitors and Bennington residents attend, the event’s website said.<\/a><\/p>\n “This beloved community festival is about more than the venerable bulb, though.
