Lana Del Rey<\/a> has shared a preview of a new song called \u201cTrack 13\u201d in which she apparently disses Ethel Cain<\/a>.<\/p>\n The preview<\/a> arrived on Wednesday night, as Del Rey shared a one-minute teaser of her listening to \u201cTrack 13\u201d in a car and tagged producer Jack Antonoff in the post. The first lyric goes, \u201cEthel Cain hated my Instagram post,\u201d followed by \u201cThink it\u2019s cute reenacting my Chicago pose.\u201d The latter lyric supposedly references a specific photo, in which Cain apparently posted an image of herself with musician Jack Donoghue \u2014 Lana Del Rey\u2019s ex-boyfriend, with whom Cain has been linked \u2014 seemingly re-creating a shot of Del Rey and Donoghue outside Cook County Prison in California. (Perhaps \u201cChicago\u201d in the lyric refers to the plot of the musical Chicago<\/em>, rather than the physical location of the photo?)<\/p>\n She continues in the chorus, repeating \u201cThe most famous girl in the Waffle House\/ I don\u2019t regret it,\u201d which is a reference to The New York Times<\/em>\u2019 2022 profile on Cain<\/a>, as well as potentially being a reference to her own 2023 stint working at an Alabama Waffle House<\/a>. The rest of the song\u2019s lyrics aren\u2019t as discernible, but the track\u2019s overall mood is more meditative, somber, and ballad-esque. At the end of the preview, Del Rey says \u201cOkay, okay,\u201d and concludes the video. Watch the post below.<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n There\u2019s a bit more than meets the eye as far this beef goes; for starters, the photo reenactment in question is barely<\/em> a reenactment, with Cain and Donoghue in a completely different location, wearing different clothes and essentially taking a different pose (see a side-by-side below). The specific \u201cInstagram post\u201d that Del Rey refers to in the opening line is also unknown, but fans have pointed out that she had explained her aversion to Cain in an Instagram comment.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t know who Ethel was until a few years ago \u2014 when someone brought to my attention the disturbing and graphic side-by-side images she would often put up of me next to unflattering creatures and cartoon characters making constant comments about my weight, I was confused at what she was getting at,\u201d Del Rey wrote in an Instagram comment. \u201cThen when I heard what she was saying behind closed doors from mutual friends and started inserting herself into my personal life I was definitely disturbed.\u201d<\/p>\n There\u2019s more, too: Apparently, Del Rey had recorded a demo titled \u201cAll About Ethel\u201d sometime between 2020 and 2022, which may or may not be the track she teased on Instagram this week. For Cain\u2019s part, reddit users have noted<\/a> that she particularly dislikes being compared to Lana Del Rey, and had posted some light diss tweets about Del Rey<\/a> that have since been deleted.
