We\u2019ve just embraced living out of a suitcase now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ingvarson-Favretto adds, \u201cWe\u2019ll go out together, have a big night in New York or wherever, and those are the moments we love to write about. Honestly, I think our best stuff comes out of a hangover cloud.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With their high-octane EP <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Racer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a recent North American tour supporting Swedish duo NOTD, Blusher are picking up serious momentum. Now signed to Atlantic Records in the US (and Warner Music in Australia), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Racer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is set to introduce their euphoric, club-ready sound to new listeners.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"op-interactive\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Blusher - RUNNING TO YOU (Official Visualiser)\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RM3h98PeTaw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt used to be people we met at shows messaging us,\u201d says Ward. \u201cNow we\u2019re getting DMs from places we haven\u2019t even been to yet, asking us to come play. We\u2019re like, \u2018Cool, let\u2019s do it.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since forming in 2021, Blusher have carved out a space in alt-pop with empowering lyrics, nostalgic synths, and a sound that\u2019s both polished and chaotic in the best way. Their debut EP, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Should We Go Dancing?<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, made a statement, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Racer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is their way of turning up the volume. <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"observer-sub-form justify-content-center my-3 p-0 d-flex align-items-stretch bg-dark text-white\">\n<div class=\"observer-sub-form-info p-3\" style=\"justify-content: start;\">\n<h2 class=\"h5 mb-0 observer-title\">Love Music?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"observer-desc mb-2\"> Get your daily dose of everything happening in Australian\/New Zealand music and globally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"spinner d-none\"> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Much of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Racer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was written during a three-month sprint in LA, where they found themselves at the heart of a buzzing creative scene. \u201cThere\u2019s this season when all the Swedish songwriters are in town,\u201d laughs Ward. \u201cIt\u2019s super collaborative. It\u2019s our way of reminding ourselves that it\u2019s not that deep, or that it\u2019s time to go out and have fun.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Packed with high-gloss, high-energy tunes, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Racer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is full of joy, love songs, and plenty of dancefloor anthems. Their live shows serve as a testing ground, with Ward adding, \u201cIt\u2019s great to try songs out before releasing them. It\u2019s always unexpected which ones people respond to.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They\u2019ve even been handing out demo CDs, calling them \u201clittle secret mixtapes.\u201d \u201cWe ask fans for feedback,\u201d Ingvarson-Favretto grins. \u201cIt\u2019s a little old-school, but it\u2019s super fun.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blusher\u2019s concept for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Racer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> revolves around clubbing as a sport. \u201cPop music is what I go to when I need energy,\u201d Coutts says. \u201cJade had this idea of our music community being like a sport, and we leaned into it.\u201d They packaged the EP around that concept: sparkly fun \u201cfor the girls and the gays.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_77224\" style=\"width: 970px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/au.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/rolling-stone-local-legends-blusher-borderline-more-77222\/attachment\/blusher-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-77224\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-77224\" class=\"wp-image-77224 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/images-r2-1.thebrag.com\/rs\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Blusher-3.jpg\" alt=\"Blusher press shot\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/images-r2-1.thebrag.com\/rs\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Blusher-3.jpg 960w, https:\/\/images-r2-1.thebrag.com\/rs\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Blusher-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/images-r2-1.thebrag.com\/rs\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Blusher-3-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/images-r2-1.thebrag.com\/rs\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Blusher-3-900x600.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-77224\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Supplied<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fashion, visuals, world-building \u2014 it\u2019s all part of their universe. \u201cWe\u2019re always thinking about how it all connects,\u201d says Ingvarson-Favretto. \u201cWe want Blusher to be bigger than the music.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bond between the three of them is at the heart of Blusher\u2019s process. \u201cWe\u2019re all overthinkers, so making each other laugh and being silly is how we get out of that,\u201d says Ward. \u201cIt\u2019s so important to bring it back to the bubble of the three of us and remind ourselves why we started this band in the first place.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt still feels like cousins at a sleepover making up songs and dances in their bedroom,\u201d laughs Coutts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The trio\u2019s humour keeps it lighthearted, even when big moments arrive. Like the time they played their first-ever live set at BIGSOUND, then signed a major label deal immediately afterwards. \u201cWe came off stage, popped a bottle of champagne, and carried our gear out through the back door,\u201d Ward recalls. \u201cIt was a huge moment for us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI remember a friend once said, \u2018You might go to America,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018No way, surely that can\u2019t happen.\u2019 And now here we are, in spaces most people never get to experience. It\u2019s crazy,\u201d says Coutts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blusher are ambitious, self-described \u201cmusic nerds\u201d at heart.\u00a0 \u201cWe want it all: more tours, remixing the EP ourselves, inviting other artists to flip our tracks, leaning into fashion, maybe even living in New York for a while. And we definitely want to go to Japan,\u201d Ward adds. \u201cWe\u2019re really living in this era.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take \u201cLast Man Standing\u201d, one of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Racer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s high points. There\u2019s this line, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Doing it for the love of the sport<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u2019 and we love that,\u201d Ingvarson-Favretto adds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blusher are doing just that.
