Tom Cruise<\/strong> was reportedly on the shortlist to receive a medal during the 48th Kennedy Center Honors \u2014 and allegedly turned down the offer.<\/p>\n

Cruise, 63, declined the honor because of \u201cscheduling conflicts,\u201d<\/a> according to The<\/i> <\/a>Washington Post, <\/i>which spoke with multiple current and former Kennedy Center employees under anonymity.<\/p>\n

Cruise has not addressed the reported offer. Us Weekly <\/i>has reached out for comment.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump<\/strong>, who named himself the chairman of the Kennedy Center earlier this year, revealed on Wednesday, August 13, which celebrities would receive recognition at the 48th annual ceremony<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTom Cruise is among one of four celebrities who will be receiving an honorary Oscar at the 16th annual Governors Awards. The ceremony is set to take place on November 16, 2025, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles. The honorary Oscar is given \u201cto honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cToday, President Donald J. Trump proudly unveiled the honorees of the 48th Kennedy Center Honors, recognizing an extraordinary group of artists whose talents have shaped American culture and entertained generations,\u201d a statement on the White House website reads<\/a>. \u201cThese heroes of arts and culture will be celebrated at the annual Kennedy Center Honors Gala in December.\u201d<\/p>\n

The honorees include George Strait, Michael Crawford, Sylvester Stallone, Gloria Gaynor<\/strong> and the band Kiss.<\/p>\n

In a speech, Trump, 79, said that he was \u201cvery involved\u201d in selecting the recipients.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would say I was about 98 percent involved. They all went through me,\u201d the current president<\/a> of the United States told reporters. \u201cI had a couple of wokesters. Now, we have great people. This is very different from it used to be, very different.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several of the honorees have since expressed their congratulations on the award.<\/p>\n

\u201cKiss is the embodiment of the American dream,\u201d frontman Gene Simmons<\/strong> told TMZ<\/a> on Wednesday. \u201cWe are deeply honored to receive the Kennedy Center Honor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simmon\u2019s bandmate Paul Stanley<\/strong> was equally pleased, telling TMZ, \u201cFrom our earliest days, Kiss has embodied the American ideal that all things are possible and that hard work pays off.\u201d<\/p>\n
