Steve Lacy<\/a> is back with a new song, \u201cNice Shoes,\u201d his first new music offering since releasing his breakout 2022 LP\u00a0Gemini Rights<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I had a dollar for the friends I would fuck\/ I could buy a pair of really nice shoes,\u201d Lacy sings at the start of \u201cNice Shoes\u201d over a skittering beat, later bemoaning his loneliness, mental anguish, and urgent desires. Though Lacy claims that all he needs is his \u201cguitar and serotonin,\u201d his usual expressive guitar work is much harder to find on \u201cNice Shoes;\u201d That is, until the last minute of the song, where Lacy slows the beat down and adds a muted electric guitar and light vocal harmonies. He then returns to the song\u2019s anxious, synth-heavy groove for a final refrain.
