Country powerhouse Lainey Wilson kicked off her highly anticipated Whirlwind World Tour with a sold-out show at Phoenix\u2019s PHX Arena last night, treating fans to an electrifying evening of music, heart, and unmistakable Southern grit.<\/p>\n
The Grammy\u00ae Award-winning, multi-platinum singer-songwriter and actress took the stage to roaring applause, launching into crowd favorites from her breakout Bell Bottom Country album, including the anthemic \u201cHeart Like A Truck\u201d and the sultry hit \u201cWatermelon Moonshine.\u201d She also gave fans a first taste of songs from her upcoming deluxe release Whirlwind (Deluxe)\u2014most notably the fan-favorite \u201cSomewhere Over Laredo\u201d and the feel-good \u201cPeace, Love, and Cowboys.\u201d<\/p>\n
But the night\u2019s most heartfelt moment came during Wilson\u2019s rendition of Don Williams\u2019 1978 classic \u201cTulsa Time.\u201d Midway through the cover, she welcomed a group of young dancers from Mesa\u2019s Impact Dance onto the stage to perform their now-viral routine, bringing the entire arena to its feet.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis night is one I\u2019ll never forget,\u201d Wilson told the crowd. \u201cPhoenix, y\u2019all brought the fire.\u201d<\/p>\n
The evening kicked off with dynamic opening sets by country hitmakers ERNEST and Kaitlin Butts, who kept the energy high and the crowd buzzing ahead of Wilson\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n
Produced by Live Nation and sponsored by Coors Light and Wrangler, the Whirlwind World Tour is set to continue across North America with over 30 dates in major cities including Denver, Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville, before wrapping November 8 in Orlando at the Kia Center.<\/p>\n
Wilson\u2019s tour follows a meteoric year for the Louisiana native, who recently took home four trophies at the 60th Annual ACM Awards\u2014including Entertainer of the Year for the second consecutive time and Album of the Year for Whirlwind. Her latest single \u201cSomewhere Over Laredo\u201d broke streaming records with over 1.16 million plays in its first 24 hours.<\/p>\n
Fans can expect more surprises along the way, including special appearances and new music as Wilson celebrates the one-year anniversary of Whirlwind with a deluxe edition dropping August 22, featuring five new tracks.<\/p>\n
