Back in 2015, Halsey made her bid for an alternative approach to pop stardom with her debut album Badlands<\/a><\/em>. She was already Tumblr royalty<\/a>, so similarly conquering pop didn\u2019t seem too far out of reach. The young artist set herself apart with an elaborately planned narrative that accompanied the record and pulled fans into another world. Each detail was immaculate and intentional, which is why listeners have wondered for an entire decade about whatever happened at the end of the \u201cNew Americana\u201d music video, when Halsey awakes in the desert with the haunting chords of \u201cDrive\u201d blaring over the scene.<\/p>\n As the musician celebrates the 10th anniversary of Badlands<\/em>, they\u2019re finally ready to catch everyone up to speed. \u201cToday we kick it into gear, are you ready?\u201d Halsey asked on X earlier today, hours before unveiling the Badlands <\/em>anniversary trailer, which previews a double feature centered around album deep cuts (and live show favorites) \u201cDrive\u201d and \u201cGasoline.\u201d A date hasn\u2019t been set for the release, but Halsey writes that the feature is \u201ccoming soon.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n In the trailer, we see the return of Tyler Posey, who appeared in the music video for Badlands <\/em>single \u201cColors.\u201d With blue-haired Halsey back in action, the preview promises the return of a familiar chaos. \u201cCity Under Heavy Surveillance,\u201d reads a note pinned to a crowded bulletin board where a picture of the singer is also pinned. Over on Tumblr, their social media home base and occasional safe space, Halsey revealed that this isn\u2019t just an old video being unearthed. It features newly-recorded footage, though she tried to fool her followers a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n \u201cGoing through the badlands archive for anniversary celebrations and found these New Americana stills from some set ups that didn\u2019t make the final vid. I love the whiplash of moods lol little baby,\u201d Halsey wrote beneath two grainy photos in which their hair is that familiar color once again. It started with an expansive vinyl release<\/a>, but that alone wouldn\u2019t do the album justice. The multi-platinum-certified record features the platinum and multi-platinum songs \u201cNew Americana,\u201d \u201cHold Me Down\u201d \u201cControl,\u201d \u201cCastle,\u201d \u201cHurricane,\u201d \u201cGhost,\u201d and \u201cGasoline,\u201d as well as gold-certified cuts \u201cRoman Holiday,\u201d \u201cHaunting,\u201d \u201cDrive,\u201d \u201cYoung God,\u201d and \u201cComing Down.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou think the most exciting thing I had for you was VINYLS?\u201d Halsey posted on X. But patience is a virtue. \u201cI don\u2019t think badlands could happen in this era bc people are so impatient and used to instant gratification, they wouldn\u2019t have the patience for a paced-out interactive roll out \ud83e\udd37\ud83c\udffb\u200d\u2640\ufe0f imo,\u201d they wrote.
