PETA.\u201d<\/p>\n The campaign was created by animal rights organization PETA<\/a> (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).<\/p>\n Following the Go-Go\u2019s kick off appearance, the campaign<\/a> went on to feature several other big stars, including Pamela Anderson<\/strong>, Wendy Williams<\/strong>, Pink<\/strong>, Carnie Wilson<\/strong>, Tommy Lee<\/strong>, Dennis Rodman<\/strong> and several other celebrities posing nude to support the anti-fur movement.<\/p>\n The Go-Go\u2019s, still the first and only all-female band that played their own instruments to have a No. 1 album, experienced their greatest success in the 1980s with their debut album, Beauty and the Beat<\/a>, which topped the Billboard 200 in March 1982 and stayed at No. 1 for six weeks, thanks in part to the hit singles \u201cWe Got the Beat\u201d and \u201cOur Lips Are Sealed.\u201d<\/p>\n While the band continued to have success with subsequent albums, Vacation (1982) and Talk Show (1984) and hit singles \u201cVacation\u201d and \u201cHead Over Heels,\u201d the group broke up in 1985.<\/p>\n After the Go-Go\u2019s members pursued various solo projects, with Carlisle finding the most success, the group reunited in 1990.<\/p>\n Related: Iconic \u201880s Singer Celebrates Anniversary of Legendary Band\u2019s Debut LP: \u2018Seems Like a Dream\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Following the release of a few compilations, the band issued God Bless the Go-Go\u2019s, their first new album of original material in 17 years, in 2001, featuring a song co-written by Billie Joe Armstrong <\/strong>of Green Day.<\/p>\n In 2021, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after a documentary on the group, The Go-Go\u2019s, brought them renewed attention.<\/p>\n This year<\/a> has been a big one for the Go-Go\u2019s. In April, the band played the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, Calif. for two weekends.
