The hot weather and bright sunshine<\/a> might make it feel otherwise, but Strictly Come Dancing<\/span> season is officially just around the corner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t go thinking it\u2019s time to stock up on hot chocolate and knitwear or get a head start on your Christmas shopping just yet, though \u2013 even if many of us associate the BBC dance show with the end of the year, it\u2019s important to remember that actually gets underway in the early autumn, with live shows continuing on Saturday nights leading up to the festive season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the 15 celebrities who\u2019ll be putting their dancing shoes on in the new season were unveiled one-by-one, and the line-up is now complete.<\/p>\n

With a host of interesting and unexpected stars from the world of sport, TV and beyond in the cast, here\u2019s a quick guide to the 15 stars on the new line-up…<\/p>\n

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (aka Nitro)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Olympic-gold-medal-winning-sprinter-turned-Gladiators-hero Harry Aikines-Aryeetey<\/span> (who you might know better as his alter-ego Nitro<\/span>) was the first Strictly star confirmed for the new series, having already made a big impression on last year\u2019s one-off Christmas episode<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

He enthused: \u201cAfter the Christmas Special, it was so nice I just had to do it twice! I\u2019m so excited to be part of the Strictly family this series and I\u2019m ready to give it all I\u2019ve got.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll be bringing tons of energy to light up the dance floor. Let\u2019s hope I\u2019m as quick picking up the routines as I am on the track.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Dani Dyer<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Since winning Love Island<\/span> in 2018, Dani Dyer<\/span> is now probably best known for the podcast she hosts with her dad, the similarly-named actor Danny Dyer<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGetting the opportunity to be on Strictly is the second most amazing thing I\u2019ve done this year!\u201d she said after she was announced for the show, referring to her recent wedding.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI feel very very blessed and cannot wait to get my dancing shoes on.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Alex Kingston<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Doctor Who<\/span> fans will best know Alex Kingston<\/a> for her prominent role as River Song, while ER<\/span> viewers will recognise her as Dr Elizabeth Corday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her additional acting credits are as varied as Blue Bloods, Law & Order: SVU, Douglas Is Cancelled, Lost In Austen and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, in which she played a minor role.<\/span><\/p>\n

Expressing her mixed feelings about signing up for Strictly, Alex said simply: \u201cAaaaagghhh!!!!!!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Excellent stuff.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dutch footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has previously played for the likes of Chelsea, Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Cardiff City.<\/span><\/p>\n

He explained: \u201c<\/span>Swapping the pitch for the ballroom is certainly not something I\u2019ve done before but I\u2019m looking forward to tackling a fun challenge!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBring on a new type of footwork, with hopefully no own goals,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Balvinder Sopal<\/strong><\/h2>\n

While EastEnders<\/span> fans will best know Balvinder Sopal for her long-running performance as Suki Panesar, she\u2019s one of the few actors to have racked up appearances on all four of the UK\u2019s leading soaps \u2013 with past roles in Coronation Street<\/span>, Hollyoaks<\/span> and Emmerdale<\/span> (as well as, even more impressively, the now-defunct Doctors<\/span>).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBeing on Strictly is a dream that I held on to, with no proof that it would ever happen,\u201d she admitted after her casting was confirmed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWorking on EastEnders and being a part of Strictly Come Dancing is the stuff that dreams are made of. I\u2019m far too excited to put into words how I feel but I\u2019m incredibly excited at the prospect of dancing across the ballroom!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

George Clarke<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Described by the BBC as a top \u201cYouTuber, podcaster and social media star known to millions online\u201d, George Clarke confirmed his involvement in the new series during an interview on Radio 1.<\/p>\n

He later told the BBC: \u201cNever thought I\u2019d say this… but I\u2019m doing Strictly! Honestly, I\u2019ve got no idea what I\u2019m doing but I\u2019m excited to get stuck in… and potentially fall over a fair bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

La Voix<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After winning over an army of loyal fans on shows like Queen Of The Universe and Britain\u2019s Got Talent, La Voix introduced herself to a whole new audience in 2024 when she competed on RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race UK<\/span>, finishing in second place overall.<\/p>\n

On her upcoming Strictly stint, she exclaimed: \u201cI\u2019ve performed for royalty, RuPaul and Simon Cowell, but nothing fills me with more excitement (and quite a bit of terror) than the thought of dancing in front of millions on live Saturday night TV. Strictly is a national institution and I can\u2019t wait to get started.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll that\u2019s left to say is: good luck to my partner!\u201d she then quipped. \u201cHere\u2019s hoping they can help me go from La Voix into La Danse.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was also noted by the BBC that Chris Dennis \u2013 La Voix\u2019s name out of drag \u2013 was \u201cexcited for viewers to go beyond the stage persona and meet the real him\u201d.<\/p>\n

Chris Robshaw<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThis is about as far out of my comfort zone as it gets!\u201d the rugby star admitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m hoping to take my dad dancing to a whole new level, and my mum can\u2019t wait to drag me along to her Zumba class. Let\u2019s see if a rugby sidestep works in the Cha Cha Cha.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ellie Goldstein<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Already a trailblazer in the modelling world as the first person with Down syndrome to appear on the cover of Vogue and have her own Barbie doll, Ellie Goldstein is now taking on a whole new challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m absolutely over the moon to be joining the cast and pros of Strictly Come Dancing this year,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a show I\u2019ve loved watching for so long, and the chance to now be part of it feels like a dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ellie admitted: \u201cI know it\u2019s going to be challenging, but I\u2019m ready to do it with the glitter and glamour and make some magic on that dance floor. Let the Strictly journey begin!\u201d<\/p>\n

Thomas Skinner<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After rising to fame on The Apprentice, Thomas Skinner has gone on to become a frequent (and often controversial<\/a>) figure on the likes of Good Morning Britain, TalkSport and GB News.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI\u2019m beyond excited to be joining Strictly Come Dancing. I\u2019ve tackled the boardroom and some big breakfasts in my time but stepping onto the dance floor under that glitter ball is next level stuff!<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never danced in my life (other than at weddings) but I\u2019m ready to graft and of course have a laugh. Bring on the sequins, sambas and most importantly, the bosh to the ballroom!\u201d<\/p>\n

Vicky Pattinson<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Vicky Pattinson first became known thanks to the reality show Geordie Shore, before winning a whole new audience when she competed on I\u2019m A Celebrity, and is now a presenter and health campaigner.<\/p>\n

Admitting she\u2019s both \u201cabsolutely buzzing\u201d and \u201cterrified\u201d about competing on Strictly, she confessed: \u201cI am a not a natural dancer! However, it\u2019s such an amazing opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and to challenge myself in a completely new way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just really hope I don\u2019t make too much of a fool of myself!\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Stefan Dennis<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A Neighbours OG, Stefan played Paul Robinson in the early years of the Australian soap, dating right back to its very first episode.<\/p>\n

He has revealed he\u2019s looking forward to \u201conce again learning to step out of my comfort zone in the world of television\u201d, as well as \u201cthe sparkle and reaching for the sky\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ross King<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Daytime TV viewers will know Ross King best as the Hollywood correspondent on the likes of Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, for which he\u2019s interviewed everyone from George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez to Britney Spears and Lady Gaga.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the bright lights of Hollywood to the glittering ballroom – it\u2019s a dream come true to be part of such an iconic show,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t wait to learn from the best, meet my fellow contestants, and, most importantly\u2026 try not to step on too many toes!\u201d<\/p>\n

Karen Carney<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Football fans will know Karen Carney a former Lioness who now offers her expertise as a sports pundit for ITV.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really is a dream come true to be a part of this year\u2019s Strictly Come Dancing line-up,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m such a huge fan of the show and I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m finally getting the chance to take part.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kristian Nairn<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The last celebrity confirmed for the series was also one of the most unexpected.<\/p>\n

Known for his work in Game Of Thrones and Our Flag Means Death, Kristian Nairn \u2013 the Northern Irish performer who stands at 6\u203210\u2033 \u2013 admitted that while Strictly will be \u201ca huge challenge for me physically\u201d, he\u2019s very much \u201cready to rise to it\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a surreal and wonderful opportunity to shed one of my left feet!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Strictly Come Dancing will return to our screens in the autumn.<\/p>\n
