It wasn\u2019t gonna be the guy to the left of me.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Host <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/people\/jennifer-hudson\/\">Jennifer Hudson<\/a> noted that Cowell \u201cwasn\u2019t too nice\u201d during the first few seasons of American Idol, after which Abdul quipped, \u201cWelcome to my world for a decade.\u201d When asked if Cowell was as tough on her as he was on contestants, Abdul revealed that she used to get back at Cowell with her wardrobe choices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u200b\u200bI\u2019d have spikes on my heels so I could kick him underneath the table,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n<p>Abdul and Cowell were two of <em>American Idol\u2019<\/em>s original judges alongside <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/people\/randy-jackson\/\">Randy Jackson<\/a>. The series premiered on Fox in 2002 before moving to ABC in 2018. Cowell welcomed his son, Eric, with his partner, Lauren Silverman, in 2014. He is also stepfather to her son, Adam, whom she welcomed during a previous relationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s different. Not that different, though,\u201d Abdul joked. \u201cHe\u2019s snarky as always. \u2026 He still makes jokes every time I see him. He goes, \u2018Come here, Paula! Come here!\u2019 Like how I would say to my Chihuahua.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hudson, for her part, competed on the show\u2019s third season in 2004, ultimately coming in seventh place. Her shocking elimination is something Abdul said people have continued to ask her about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you were eliminated, it was like the whole world was pissed,\u201d Abdul stated. \u201cPeople still talk to me about, \u2018God, that night that Jennifer Hudson was eliminated.\u2019 I go, \u2018I know.\u2019 And I remember interviewing you afterwards, when I was on <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/show\/entertainment-tonight\/\">Entertainment Tonight<\/a><\/em>, and I said to you, \u2018You know, I have the feeling some amazing things are gonna happen to you.\u2019 Do you remember, I said, \u2018Sometimes the people that need to win, win. And the people that don\u2019t need to win end up winning big time.\u2019 And you did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abdul also confirmed a story that a psychic previously predicted that she would star on <em>American Idol<\/em>. \u201cThis was three years before <em>American Idol<\/em> even started. And she proceeded to tell me that I\u2019m going to be doing a television show, like a talent show. And I was like, \u2018What?&#8217;\u201d she explained. \u201cI mean, my only reference had been <em>Star Search<\/em> from decades ago. I\u2019m like, \u2018I\u2019m not doing that.\u2019 She goes, \u2018Honey, you willed it to happen. It\u2019s happening. All rights reserved, Courtesy: Everett Collection<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to Abdul, the psychic told her she would be joined on the show by someone from across the pond who would be a \u201cthorn\u201d in her side (Cowell) and someone she already knew whose name began with the letter R (Jackson).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe said it was gonna be the biggest show, break records on television, and I paid no attention to it.
